Not again
It's yet another unity asset flip, called Minicar Race Creator. As usual some of the tracks are the exact same as seen in other games on steam, most likely because this template already offers multiple, already pre built, tracks. As was the case with Night racer, as the name implies, the races are now set...you guess it...SPACE! the developer simply transported these tracks made with wooden bridges and asphalt roads to the empty void of space, by switching the background color from blue to black. And there you have it.
If you want to pull the rug on them, steal a sequel idea. Simply buy the template, paint the sky orange and call it Sunset Racer.
Also the camera is placed pointing slightly downwards either let me see what comes after a slope or zoom out the camera. SCORE:1/10
Had fun playing this game. Fast paced and engaging. The physics of the car looked great and smooth. Multiplayer mode seems interesting, waiting for more players to join and have competitive multiplayer matches.

Night Racer is certainly a game. I wasn't expecting anything huge, this does look like a cheap simple game made by a small team, so I would expect it to be a little brittle, but no the game is a skeleton. I've only played a few minutes and I feel like I have already experienced everything the game has to offer. The graphics are simplistic, which isn't too much of a critique, but the boosters and the few animations in the game have very simple animations. It's not a huge deal, but they look pretty out of place. There is only one map "theme" and it gets old quickly, there's nothing to do in the game but race, and the one thing you can do in a multiplayer match is bump into cars. No powerups, no drifting, no cool shortcuts, just being able to crash into each other, and a few boost pads sprinkled around the map. I'm going to give the game this though, I didn't have trouble finding any multiplayer matches. Although the lobby's filled at 4 players, which takes away the only real enjoyable part of the game, as you're probably going to go the entire race with barely seeing the other players, unlike single-player where there's like 16 other cars. I may be a bit harsh on the game. Of course, it's probably a fun experience to play local split screen multiplayer with a few friends, and have a laugh about the game, and I'm sure a few races would be fun with them... Except that's not a feature! There is only online multiplayer. The download size is very small though, so I mean you wouldn't lose anything if you got the game for free, or pretty cheap and put it on the Steam Deck or something to distract a child, but I can't really recommend this at its full price. You're not missing anything. It's not bad, but this feels more like a tech demo than an actual game, and I am at least looking forward to IF the devs update it with some cool features, as I can see a lot of potential in it.
The game's really good. Played for a good while the art looks awesome! Looking forward to playing multiplayer once the rooms start filling up. Wonder what the devs will add next in the game

Warning: Asset Flip!
Night Racer is a Unity Asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", Smash Game Studios, took the Minicar Race Creator Unity Store tutorial/demo/game asset pack from the real developers, Target Studio, reskinned it slightly, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam (and mobile app stores... the template they stole and are trying to scam people into buying is for mobile phones). They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. It gets worse... "Minicar Race Creator" has also been shamelessly dumped on Steam by other asset flippers apart from Smash Game Studios:

"Minicar Race", asset flipped by Beyond Games
"Barro Racing", asset flipped by SC Jogos
"Racing Juke", asset flipped by Rabotiagi games
"Barro 2020", asset flipped by SC Jogos
"MiniTracks", asset flipped by MageC Studio
"Barro 22", asset flipped by SC Jogos
"Barro", asset flipped by SC Jogos
"Barro F", asset flipped by SC Jogos
Take a look for yourself... these are all reskins of exactly the same game! The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Minicar Race Creator" is just a simple low poly toy car racing arcade game, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so this copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers. The developer here is trying to scam gamers into paying $8 plus another $5 in empty DLC... that's right... they want $13 USD for someone else's game!!! Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Smash Game Studios.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this mobile app as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the mobile app (to date). Until this status changes, this mobile app will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this mobile app.
Got the Ultimate edition. The cars look sick. Been trying to set the best time in Time Trial. The championship mode gets really competitive towards the end. Looking forward to trying out the multiplayer mode more. Was able to play that game mode only once.

The engines are roaring loudly, and everyone is waiting for the race to start. Are you going to be the one who reacts the fastest and storms to the first position by the first corner? Perhaps you will be the one who totally stuffs up the start and then makes a comeback by passing everyone to take the race! You only have a few laps to finish at the top in Night Racer. Night Racer is an arcade racing game developed and self-published by Smash Game Studios on the 23rd of June 2022 on the Steam platform as an Early Access. The current version of the game consists of an Arcade, a Time Trial, a championship, and a multiplayer mode with 9 available tracks and 12 cars for selection. The Arcade and Time Trial are basically the same where you have to try to complete 3 laps on the chosen track as fast as possible. In the Multiplayer mode you can create a room and wait for players to join (you might wait for a while) or join the existing rooms (which I assume has been created by the developers) where you race the same bots over and over again. And then there’s the Championship mode where you have to unlock 7 championships, each one harder than the previous one. I actually had fun playing the championships, but the game at this stage is really slim overall. The 9 tracks currently available are basic. They look like a mixture of roads, with wooden ramps in a rocky environment. They are short, which suits this type of game, but there's not much in the way of perks. The only things you can pick up are crates, which will give you additional points at the end of the race that you can use to upgrade your favourite cars. You do have a few boosters here and there; when you drive onto them, your car receives a boost for a few seconds and that’s about it. To crash a car, it will have to either roll on its roof or be bummed off the track. As the track designs are average at the moment, one of the best aspects of the game is the car customisations. This too is a tad light but I thought it was fun. You can choose the colour, add a topper to your roof and change the boost visual effects. The other positive aspect is that all the cars that I played with behaved slightly differently to each other. That was fun! Even if the graphics are somehow simplistic, they are quite good. The soundtrack has a good beat to it and is fun to listen to, although it is repetitive and needs other tracks on the loop. The gameplay itself is decent but the game needs more content in terms of tracks and cars. Maybe additional boosters, perks and longer tracks might lift the game to another level. As the game is listed as Early Access, we’ll have to wait and see. Positives: ~~~~~~~~ + Decent graphics + 4 different modes + 9 tracks and 12 different cars + Fun and simple car customisation + Achievements Negatives: ~~~~~~~~~ - No trading cards as yet - Needs more content overall Night Racer is a fun Arcade racing game, but it needs more content overall at this stage. Let’s wait and see. 5/10 Key provided by the developer/publisher for review purposes. Any opinions expressed are entirely my own! Night racer good game. Good support for multiple resolutions. Different toppers and boosts look great. Hoping for a huge variety of car customization and new modes in the future.

Had a lot of fun playing the game!! Loved the customisation and the different game modes. Enjoyed the music and the futuristic art style. Can't wait to finish the championship.
