Night Jackal: Blood Debt

Night Jackal: Blood Debt is a boomer shooter that's also a tie-in for a digital motion comic called "Night Jackal", and I have to say the comic is far better quality than this game. It's from "Nothing Rhymes With Entertainment". If you think nothing rhymes with entertainment, you better do an assessment of your educational attainment. The game itself looks like a GZDoom kitbash with some rather comical pixelcrap billboarded characters from the comic book. Aside from that there's (only) 10 levels of very mediocre Duke Nuke'm 3D shooting, a handful of weapons, boring repetitive enemies... I guess this was just intended to promote the comic, which in turn makes this more of an advertisement for a game, and that would be a problem. The comic superhero theme is new to the boomer shooter genre, as far as I could tell, and it might even work okay if the technical implementation was remotely acceptable. As a game itself, it's an inferior clone of the ancient boomer shooters... this looks worse and plays worse than the originals which you can still play either for free or for very cheap on Steam, so if you want a retro experience, this isn't it and you have far better alternatives. Due to the "retro" nature of this game, and the lack of modernisation beyond what the off-the-rack game engine provides, the graphics appear quite dated and the gameplay is substandard. This compares poorly to more contemporary games with professional standards. Given that gaming is primarily a visual medium, this is a bit of a problem, so should be taken into account when considering whether to get this game. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets with crap 2D retro pixel "art" textures on them, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. This very poor quality visual style is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, worse, it doesn't authentically recreate the 1990's vibe the developer is hoping people will accept instead of doing their job properly, and that's just another reason to avoid it. These flaws make this game fall far short of the professional standards we expect from a modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was [b]only 7 players[/b]. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Night Jackal: Blood Debt is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. The quality problems and defects with this game makes the asking price totally unrealistic. It is impossible to recommend this to gamers here on Steam. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. More like Night Jackass.

Night Jackal seems to be the most ambitious game so far released by DOSMan Games. Mostly cos this one puts a lot more effort into presentation in its story. We get like mini in game interactive cut scenes. And there's just a decent amount of dialogue in general. And the story in general was quite good. Had interesting twists and turns I didn't expect. In terms of gameplay, it's also more interesting than other DosMan offerings since you actually have superhero gadgets like the grappling hook and the legally distinct batarangs than can be used to stun certain enemies you can't damage normally. The other guns can be a bit hit or miss. The minigun is great. The rifle is fairly good. The 2 shot pump weapon is odd tho. Useful ish early on but pretty useless later on. The dual SMGs are also pretty bad. They take forever to reload and the clip size + damage leaves a lot to be desired. The gauntlets that dont use ammo are pretty good however. They feel like an upgrade over the two shot burst weapon we got early on. Not my favourite loadout in a game but it's fine. Enemy wise, decent variety. Pretty good typical old school henchman designs. The rats and especially the metal spiders are absolute cancer however. Hard to hit, very fast and the latter does a ton of damage. Yuck. Overall I think it may be the best game by DosMan Games. I'm still thinking is it my fav or not. The other contenders would be Reaper and Quatermain and the cult of Cthulhu. It's better than both for sure. I think it edges out over Reaper since that lacked a few things despite being good. Quatermain however also had good story and ambience even if Night Jackal has more interesting gameplay. Either way you cant go wrong with this entry if you liked any of the previous DosMan games.

价格挺合理，bgm和低俗漫画的美术风格也还不错。 然后优点可能就这几个了。 玩起来有点像DOOM的蝙蝠侠模组，但是关卡设计太诡异了，单调不说，还十分容易迷路，刚开场那个军械库就来来回回绕了我半小时，有些场景我真是全靠运气找到路的。 手感也不怎么样，还有抓钩枪和平台跳跃环节，boss战也是纯打子弹海绵。 对比发行商其它游戏来说，本作甚至还有完整的故事线和成就系统，虽然看完之后感觉好像还不如没有。 玩下来体验不怎么好。

If you've played the old Batman DooM mod then you'll feel right at home with Night Jackel. The levels are pretty decent in design and layouts. I like the art on the "secret" comics,pretty good imo. The basic enemies are ok and the two "special" enemies you run into from time to time are pretty cool in design(destroying the head of buff spidey when it comes off for health is a nice touch) and attack(well one cause buff Spidey only melees)but that's it. Sucks that only one has a slighty different way of taking him down. F#ck those spiders btw,annoying a$$ turds. The story is the basic revenge type with a not so subtle twist to it. The ending(s) though suprised me. All in all for the price I feel like I got my moneys worth. Got it on sale and I was not disappointed. Give it try,you just might like it👍

Fantastic little game, love the music to it, if your looking for some of the most interesting old doom like games, you need to check these guys and lots of other DOSman games out!

О боже какой же ужас... Купил эту игру сразу как поиграл в Квотермейна против Ктулху, надеялся что DoOSman сделает еще лучше, и как же я ошибся это огромный скачок назад. Главная проблема в дикой унылости игры. Все ощущается каким то убогим враги все как будто одинаковые посто мужики и стреляющие мужики и все!! Все оружие полное говно урон наносит слабый с одного выстрела дохнут только крысы все остальные умирают только если выстрелить в них из дробовика в упор и то не все а только самые слабые враги, это похоже на какое то издевательство, оружие либо не наносит толком урон либо перезаряжаеться по полгода. Гаджеты вроде крюка кошки и ночных очков тоже особо погоды не делают. Много прямо очень унылых моментов -самый худний это уровень в тюрьме до него и после него очень много унылой ходьбы по пустоте, потом попадаешь в тюрьму уныло идешь по двору, потом тебе дают миниган с бесконечными патронами и начинается унылый отстрел миллиарда безмозглых ботов. Боже как можно было опуститься до такого ведь предыдущая игра была такой динамичной и продуманной а это.... короче взять ну можно конечно цена все равно маленькая но увы удовольствия вы особо не получите .
