Thumbs in the middle here. This is definitely a product of its time. While I was happy to back the Kickstarter for the purposes of Game Preservation and keeping it alive, a lot of the humor is really dated and will make a lot of younger, modern gamers CRINGE. There's some definite casual/benign racism going on, and the end comes off REALLY sexist. The game is nearly twenty years old though, and it's a product of its time. I'm glad they didn't change things as we need to be mindful of how things were to appreciate how things are. If you know that going in, you should get your three dollars out of this to see early Flash gaming, and a precursor to what would be early Telltale point and click style gaming. The voice acting is fine, and there are some fun short puzzles too. Overall I'll give it a thumb's up to support indie gaming, adventure gaming and game preservation. The game is only an hour long so I feel that even with the bits that definitely made me frown, the good outweighs the bad here.
A very faithful remaster of one of my favorite flash games, If you're a fan of Film Noir and point and click games with good humor and story-lines you'll like this.
"Nick Bounty - The Goat in the Grey Fedora: Remastered" is a entertaining and comical point and click adventure game. The story is engaging as you encounter lots of very interesting characters and locations. The problem solving puzzles are not too difficult. This game is really short and can be completed within an hour or two. It is a really chill and relaxing stress-free entertaining game to play. I highly recommend this point and click adventure game for the engaging story, characters, and the comedy.
Yep! This is a quick and charming comedy adventure. I very much enjoyed The Dame with the Blue Chewed Shoe and was pleased to be able to experience one of the earlier games in the series, remastered in full 3D with all the original voice acting. The writing and comedy here aren't as varied or sophisticated as in Blue Chewed Shoe and didn't have me laughing out loud, but I still definitely enjoyed what is here. The series central premise of a noir detective who takes himself seriously and does his best despite the ridiculous situations he finds himself in is endlessly amusing. Nick Bounty is simply an excellent straight man, all business even when his spy tools prove worthless or he is forced to play with stick puppets or impersonate an interior decorator to advance the investigation. The creators clearly have a great love for the noir genre and their expertise shows in the pitch perfection of their parody. At less than 2 hours from start to finish, the game easily held my attention from beginning to end and never came close to wearing out its welcome. You could do a lot worse for the price of a can of soda. Check out the trailer and if you like the tone, go for it. (Social justice note: there's a Chinese caricature in the game I didn't feel great about, and Bounty's verbal abuse against a "really, really, really, really, really radical feminist" at the end of the game was not delightful. 2005 wasn't so long ago that this tastelessness can be easily excused, and this material wasn't creative or surprising enough to justify its inclusion as shocking comedy; it's just there. I still enjoyed the game and think it's worth $3, but I wouldn't have felt right not saying something.)
The humor of this one is gross and dated. It's sexist and racist and fatphobic. I really enjoyed The Dame with the Blue Chewed Shoe, so I was greatly disappointed by this one.
The "punchline" of the game is that the villain is a feminist who hates men. This is lazy writing and is only funny if you think women advocating against their own oppression are as bad as those who oppress them.
(Ignore my game time, I had no stable internets... Unless of course you think I finished this game in 7 minutes... ^^) Now the Nick Bounty Trilogy is complete and... I am sad to see that there is no more. These games offer humor that I actually laugh at and I enjoyed biting and licking things in this one. I am pretty certain I definitely played this game in its non-remastered version... But I see some new additions too. Especially when it "all goes dark". Lol! Didn't expect THAT to happen!!! It's good. It's old school and there will be time for replayability in da future! As well as making other people play it for enjoyment. Heh heh.
This was great! Maybe not as long or as hilarious as The Dame with the Blue Chewed Shoe but it was still a funky humorous point n' click game. If you're a fan of Nick Bounty you're likely gonna like this one too - for the price it's asking it's a steal!
Nice short game
Took one hour to play and still look over 20 years old.
If you played the two previous games, you might just as well play this one, too, but I honestly didn't enjoy it much and think it's not as good as the others. Lacking in both, jokes and puzzles. Kind of short, too and feels like it just cuts off at some point. Don't recommend it unless for completionist satisfaction.
