Holy f nut! Another Nick Bounty game! Granted I couldn't freaking play this game on my older PC, as it was burning up, but now things have changed and I CAN FINISH IT!!! And I did. This game is MUCH EASIER than the Case of Crabs. LIKE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier. You even have a button to "show all examination points". The humor is still very much present however. It's freaking delightful. I also chose Walter as my partner... And that upped the antics. And damn! Walter is one hell of a badass! Haha! And at the end? Where you pick the suspect? I wanted to be funny and chose an unlikely one.... And after presenting evidence.......... I turned out to be right................ I can't believe this lol!!! There are slight issues with the game though. I played with a controller and at times, got stuck a whole bunch of times on random things. Also, when you click to "examine" something? Sometimes it takes you all across the room and then back, and it keeps repeating... Mostly the tables at that "CAFE" lounge though....... But otherwise? It's great! I love these and have just one more game to go! :D
Wow, this was probably the most funky point n' click game I've ever played! The silly writing in the very beginning may have felt a little cringy but as I played Nick's antics started to grow on me and I often got caught off-guard by the silly innocent jokes he was cracking (sometimes cluelessly) which made me burst with laughter. While the writing may have been silly (deliberately so), it was more than compensated for by the voice actor crew who did an incredible job giving all that silliness some great substance and charm! They even had a few really high-profile voice actors such as Dave Fennoy and Melissa Hutchison (Lee Everett and Clementine from The Walking Dead) and the end result was some amazing top notch comedy. What an underrated gem. Looking forward to more adventures of Nick Bounty!
Great to see a true sequel to flash game classics. In a weird way it fulfilled my want for an LA Noire style game, despite being very VERY different in tone and gameplay. Runs well on Linux!
The same brand of crazy humour is still here. The main character is still a fairly competent noir private detective who lives in the modern-day world. It is still almost impossible to get stuck, as the solutions to puzzles are pretty obvious. However, the game has really clunky, laborious movement which requires a keyboard this time. The speed is fine, but the path-finding is pretty buggy - upon clicking a hotspot, it is very common to see the character spin around it at least once to find the one "correct" angle to interact with it. The game provides a few slots for manual saves. Use them. At some point I ran into a bug which did not let me collect all the necessary evidence at a certain scene. This blocked progression but was remedied by loading a save from an earlier scene. Not sure if it was related to my choice of partner - the cop-lady - as I could not replicate this bug with the other two. The game takes around four hours to play through. It takes an additional hour to play it through with a different partner, loading a save right before the choice. In addition to hearing new lines of dialogue, it does slightly alter the way the final puzzle plays out, but I would only recommend that to dedicated fans though, as it is hardly worth it. [As a note: the final dialogue before the credits gives three options, only the first of which actually results in a meaningful reply from the partner; the other two elicit a dismissive silence and a confused grunt respectively]
The longest and best nick bounty game i like how you feel like a real detective taking swabs and fingerprints and a having a side kick was also awesome. highly recommend.
I have played all the Nick Bounty games since they began as browser games and enjoyed them all. I would definitely recommend all of them. The Dame with the Blue Chewed Shoe was done very well. I look forward to hopefully seeing a new Nick Bounty game in the future.
The technical stuff is a little rough around the edges, but looks and plays well enough. Gameplay could've been more demanding, because it is a little disappointing you collect so much evidence and analyze it, but the game draws all conclusions for you automatically, so you do not do any actual detective work. Puzzles are also too simple, rendered pointless even further by the game hardly ever offering anything else to do than the solutions to begin with. But to be frank, you don't play this for the gameplay. You play it for the humor and that's where you find some silly fun and a bunch of genuinely sweet jokes. Plus, there's some replay value due to a certain choice you have to make early into the game.
This game was surprisinging delightful. I played it thru 3 times to experience the dialog of all three sidekicks. It was great humor, enjoyable story plot, good graphics, and just all around silly fun. Thoroughly enjoyed this--highly recommend.
