Next Run is a fantasy strategy RPG developed and published by Clarus Victoria that blends roguelike progression, tactical decision-making, resource management, and kingdom-building into a surprisingly flexible adventure. At first glance, it appears to follow many familiar conventions of the genre, but its defining characteristic is the freedom it gives players when approaching problems. Instead of presenting a single correct path to success, the game builds its entire structure around alternatives, allowing players to solve challenges through combat, diplomacy, trade, crafting, magic, or economic development. This design philosophy gives the experience a unique identity and makes every playthrough feel different from the last. The game's fantasy setting serves as a backdrop for a series of interconnected systems that constantly force players to make meaningful decisions. Every choice carries consequences, whether it involves expanding territory, investing in infrastructure, recruiting forces, developing magical abilities, or engaging with rival factions. Unlike many strategy RPGs that eventually funnel players into a predictable pattern of progression, Next Run continually encourages experimentation. The game rewards creativity by offering multiple solutions to most situations, making adaptation one of the most important skills for long-term success. One of the strongest aspects of the experience is the way it handles progression. Every campaign unfolds differently thanks to its roguelike structure, which introduces a degree of unpredictability into each run. Randomized opportunities, events, and challenges ensure that players cannot simply rely on memorized strategies. Instead, they must evaluate their circumstances and adjust accordingly. This constant need for adaptation helps maintain engagement over repeated playthroughs and gives the game substantial replay value. Combat plays an important role throughout the adventure, but it is never treated as the only solution. Tactical encounters require planning and resource management, rewarding players who carefully consider positioning, unit strengths, and available abilities. Battles can be challenging, particularly when facing stronger opponents, but the game frequently provides alternative options that allow players to avoid unnecessary conflicts. This flexibility helps distinguish Next Run from strategy RPGs that rely solely on military conquest as their primary form of progression. Economic management forms another major pillar of the experience. Resources are limited, and deciding how to allocate them becomes an ongoing challenge. Players must balance immediate needs against future ambitions, investing carefully in infrastructure, production, and development. Strong economies can support powerful armies, advanced magical research, or profitable trade networks, making financial planning just as important as battlefield success. The economic systems add a satisfying layer of depth and encourage players to think beyond short-term victories. Crafting and commerce further expand the available strategic options. Players who prefer a less aggressive approach can focus on building wealth through trade or creating valuable items that support long-term goals. These systems provide alternatives to combat-heavy playstyles and reinforce the game's emphasis on player freedom. Because there are multiple viable paths to success, campaigns often develop in dramatically different ways depending on the choices made throughout the journey. Magic introduces yet another layer of customization and strategic depth. Investing in magical development unlocks powerful abilities that can influence exploration, combat, and kingdom management. A magic-focused campaign feels distinctly different from one centered on military expansion or economic growth. This variety encourages experimentation and helps ensure that subsequent playthroughs remain interesting even after players become familiar with the game's core systems. The kingdom-building elements tie everything together effectively. Expanding and improving settlements provides a tangible sense of progress as players watch their influence grow over time. Every new structure, upgrade, and development contributes to a larger strategic plan, making growth feel meaningful rather than automatic. The gradual transformation of a small domain into a thriving power creates a rewarding progression loop that complements the roguelike framework. Visually, Next Run adopts a clean and practical fantasy style. The graphics are not particularly flashy, but they communicate information clearly and support the gameplay effectively. Maps, menus, and combat encounters are easy to read, which is especially important in a game built around complex decision-making. The art direction prioritizes functionality without sacrificing atmosphere, creating a world that feels cohesive and inviting. The user interface deserves recognition for managing a large number of interconnected systems without becoming excessively complicated. Strategy games that combine multiple genres often struggle with information overload, but Next Run generally presents its mechanics in a clear and understandable manner. Players are given the tools needed to make informed decisions while still being encouraged to discover deeper strategies through experimentation. The soundtrack and sound effects contribute positively to the overall experience. Music reinforces the fantasy setting without becoming intrusive, while audio cues help communicate important events during gameplay. Although the audio is not the game's most memorable feature, it supports the atmosphere effectively and helps maintain immersion throughout longer play sessions. The game's greatest challenge is its complexity. New players may initially feel overwhelmed by the number of systems operating simultaneously. Managing resources, planning development, evaluating encounters, and adapting to randomized events can require considerable attention. While the learning curve is ultimately rewarding, it may discourage those looking for a more immediately accessible experience. Some players may also find the roguelike elements frustrating at times. Randomized events and unpredictable circumstances occasionally create situations where progress can feel heavily influenced by factors outside the player's control. However, these moments are also part of what gives the game its replayability and encourages creative problem-solving. Despite these minor issues, Next Run succeeds as an ambitious hybrid of strategy RPG and roguelike design. Its commitment to meaningful choice, flexible progression, and multiple paths to victory creates a refreshing experience that rewards experimentation and strategic thinking. Few games offer such a wide range of viable approaches while maintaining a coherent and engaging gameplay loop. For fans of fantasy strategy games, kingdom management, and roguelike adventures, Next Run offers a rewarding experience filled with opportunities for creativity and experimentation. Its depth, replay value, and emphasis on player agency make it a standout title within its niche, providing countless opportunities to forge unique stories through the decisions made along the way. 还可以 但是不值42 等打折比较好 个人感觉价值在20多 毕竟除了职业特点不一样 基本盘玩法都是一样的的
Has a lot of potential, <s>but it's way too buggy to be playable. Loading a saved game has a very high chance of bricking the game, with task progress freezing, unresponsive and misplaced UI, basically forcing you to start a new game</s> EDIT: issues seem to have been fixed in record time.

Good mechanics. Entertaining. If it looks like something you'd enjoy...no surprises. Give it shot.
