Kind of like a Christmas version of something like the old Warcraft games - if you take away all the fighting... a little bit resource management? Tell the elves to cut the trees and gather wood ect.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJqoaYHkBTs
"New Yankee in Santa's Service" is a pointless "12 Labours of Hercules" screen tapper/clicker game. There's no gameplay, just tapping on the screen. The game is made to look like you're making interesting decisions as you're presented with a map of a town/village/pathway that has you clicking on various things to collect things which are then consumed when you click on an obstacle, which unlocks more things to click on. This is so lame and shallow, you could write a script to randomly click the screen and given enough time, it would beat the game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "New Yankee in Santa's Service" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. "New Yankee in Santa's Service" has the far too high price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
Fun time management game.

New Yankee in Santa’s Service is a festive time-management strategy game developed by Rionix and published by ESDigital Games, continuing the long-running New Yankee series with a distinctly holiday-themed adventure. The game blends light narrative storytelling with resource management, multitasking, and mild defensive strategy, all wrapped in a cheerful winter setting. Rather than aiming for deep tactical complexity, it focuses on accessible, structured challenges that gradually increase in difficulty while maintaining a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. The story picks up with series protagonists John and Mary once again caught in magical mishaps. What begins as an attempt to return home through spellcasting spirals into chaos when Santa’s reindeer are scattered across a snow-covered land. Now, tasked with saving Christmas itself, the duo must help Santa restore order, recover his missing team, and prepare for the big night. The narrative is whimsical and lighthearted, serving primarily as a framing device to guide players through the game’s levels rather than delivering deep character development. Still, the holiday theme adds charm and gives each objective a sense of festive urgency. Gameplay follows the familiar time-management formula that fans of the genre will immediately recognize. Each level presents a series of objectives that must be completed within a certain time frame to achieve the best rating. Players assign characters and helpers to gather resources, clear obstacles, repair structures, and construct new buildings. At the same time, hostile winter creatures—such as enchanted snowmen or magical foes—occasionally interrupt progress, requiring defensive action. Success depends on prioritizing tasks effectively and maintaining a steady rhythm of action. As levels progress, complexity increases through additional resource types, new building requirements, and more frequent enemy interference. Early stages ease players into the mechanics, allowing them to understand how resources flow and how tasks interconnect. Later stages require careful sequencing of actions to avoid bottlenecks. Deciding whether to gather materials first, repair infrastructure, or defend against threats becomes increasingly important. While the core mechanics remain consistent, the layered objectives help maintain engagement over the course of more than forty levels. The game’s visual design reinforces its festive tone. Snow-covered landscapes, cozy wooden structures, cheerful elves, and sparkling magical effects create a warm seasonal aesthetic. The art style is colorful and clean, with clear visual indicators that make it easy to track available resources and pending tasks. Although the graphics are not technically advanced, they effectively support the gameplay and ensure clarity during fast-paced multitasking moments. The soundtrack and sound effects further enhance the holiday atmosphere, with light, upbeat music complementing the snowy setting. One of the strengths of New Yankee in Santa’s Service is its accessibility. The mechanics are intuitive, making it approachable for casual players and newcomers to the time-management genre. There is a sense of steady progression without overwhelming complexity. However, this simplicity can also be a limitation. Experienced players of the genre may find that the gameplay does not significantly evolve beyond its core loop, leading to a sense of repetition during extended play sessions. Despite this, the game succeeds in delivering a polished and focused experience within its chosen scope. It does not attempt to reinvent the genre or introduce elaborate systems. Instead, it offers structured, bite-sized challenges that can be completed in short sessions. This makes it particularly well-suited for players who enjoy casual strategy games that emphasize efficiency and light pressure rather than deep strategic planning. Ultimately, New Yankee in Santa’s Service stands as a cheerful, holiday-themed entry in the time-management genre. Its charm lies in its seasonal setting, accessible mechanics, and steady pacing. While it may not provide long-term depth for hardcore strategy enthusiasts, it delivers a pleasant and festive experience for those seeking relaxed multitasking gameplay wrapped in a Christmas adventure.

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
