Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 26 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Nelly Cootalot is the stupidly named pirate adventurer with a heart of gold. Uncover corruption and wanton punning in this HD revival of a classic freeware adventure game.
The revenue of the game - after fees and taxes are deducted - will go to the RSPB, a British charity taking care of our feathered friends (birds).
Nelly Cootalot, fearsome pirate and lover of tiny and adorable creatures, is charged by the spirit of a dead buccaneer to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fleet of birds known as spoonbeaks. Her adventure will bring her face to face with the nefarious Baron Widebeard as she uncovers corruption and wanton punning in the Barony of Meeth.
Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! is your opportunity to:
Rescue endangered and unusually named wildfowl.
Acquire morally dubious items on behalf of minor aristocrats.
Intercept the private correspondances of a daredevil pilot.
Come to the aid of downtrodden supernatural beings.
Be confused by obscure colloquialisms.
Borrow facial hair from long-dead pirates.
Wantonly misuse the word 'borrow'.
Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! was originally released by Alasdair Beckett-King hundreds of years ago in 2007. The game started out as a birthday present for his girlfriend and got wildly out of hand. In 2016, he even made another Nelly game called Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet.
The HD remastering of Spoonbeaks Ahoy! brings the original game back to life, with a streamlined interface and loads more pixels and voice over (!) for the first time. Read the details below!
Alasdair has been tweaking and polishing (and breaking and fixing) Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! for many months now. 1920x1080 HD resolution and a FULL VOICE OVER in English are the obvious highlights. Here is the full list of the improvements we've made to the original 2007 game.
The game now runs in full 1920x1080 HD, (as well as other widescreen resolutions). This is flipping massive compared to the tiny, square original graphics (see trailer video).
Extremely cheap voice acting by Alasdair Beckett-King, real Nelly and literally no one else. Think of it as a director's commentary where he got to do a load of dodgy accents. (Yes, this feature CAN be switched off.)
Full support for macOS and Linux as well as all recent Windows systems.
Streamlined point & click interface.
Improved launcher app.
Bad jokes replaced with good jokes (we wish).
New "business" model
We've put a lot of work into this remastered edition. However, Spoonbeaks Ahoy! is a shorter game than „The Fowl Fleet“, and the original was freeware. So we've decided to make this release super, super-cheap.
The revenue of the game - after fees and taxes are deducted - will go to the RSPB, a British charity taking care of our feathered friends (birds).

In 2013 Alasdair ran a successful Kickstarter to fund a new stand-alone Nelly game (Nelly Cootalot – The Fowl Fleet). With the support of over 1000 backers, Alasdair teamed up with Application Systems Heidelberg in 2014. With ASH on board, the project rapidly grew in scale, adding cross-platform support, text localisation, German voice acting and tons more animation in glorious High Definition.
The Fowl Fleet isn't a sequel to Spoonbeaks Ahoy! It is a new Nelly story and it is not necessary to play one to understand the other.
The budget for the new game grew from the modest Kickstarter haul to a six figure sum, with a team of 45+ people across 4 countries. Blimey, we've been busy!
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Cute, fun little game; entertaining and worth a play.
《Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! ——24.11.22

Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD is a charming point-and-click adventure that celebrates classic genre design through wit, personality, and a distinctly lighthearted pirate tone. Developed by Alasdair Beckett-King in collaboration with Application Systems Heidelberg and published by Application Systems Heidelberg, this HD version revives a cult-favorite freeware adventure from 2007 and presents it as a polished, fully voiced modern release. Rather than attempting to modernize the genre through radical mechanics, the game succeeds by refining what already worked: clever writing, approachable puzzles, and a protagonist who is immediately endearing. The story follows Nelly Cootalot, an optimistic and fearless pirate with an unshakable sense of curiosity, who is tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the disappearance of a flock of spoonbeaks—odd but beloved birds native to her island. What begins as a seemingly small local problem gradually expands into a humorous adventure involving corruption, eccentric villains, and the kind of absurd situations that define classic adventure games. The narrative never takes itself too seriously, instead leaning into playful satire and British humor, with dialogue that is filled with puns, deadpan jokes, and memorable character interactions. Gameplay adheres closely to traditional point-and-click conventions. Players explore hand-drawn environments, speak with a variety of quirky characters, collect items, and combine them to solve puzzles that advance the story. The interface is clean and intuitive, especially in the HD version, which smooths out interactions and removes much of the friction that older adventure games sometimes suffer from. Puzzles are generally logical and fair, relying more on observation and narrative context than on obscure leaps in logic. While experienced adventure fans may find the challenge level modest, the design ensures steady progression without frustration, making the experience welcoming to newcomers as well. One of the most significant upgrades in the HD edition is the addition of full voice acting. This enhancement adds considerable personality to the world and helps elevate the humor, as delivery plays a major role in selling the game’s jokes and character dynamics. The performances are intentionally theatrical and playful, perfectly matching the game’s whimsical tone. Accompanying the voices is a cheerful and thematic soundtrack that reinforces the pirate setting without becoming repetitive or intrusive, contributing to a cohesive and warm atmosphere throughout the adventure. Visually, Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD retains the original game’s illustrative charm while benefiting from higher resolution artwork. Backgrounds are colorful and expressive, characters are distinct and animated with personality, and the overall presentation feels like a storybook brought to life. The HD update does not drastically alter the art style, instead enhancing clarity and detail while preserving the hand-drawn aesthetic that defines the game’s identity. This approach makes the remaster feel respectful of its origins rather than a reinvention. In terms of scope, the game is relatively short and linear, typically completed in a single sitting or over a few relaxed sessions. There is little in the way of branching paths or optional content, and replay value is modest once the puzzles are solved. However, this brevity works in the game’s favor, as it keeps the pacing tight and ensures that the humor and charm never wear thin. The experience feels carefully paced, offering a complete and satisfying story without unnecessary padding. What truly sets Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD apart is its writing and tone. Nelly herself is a standout protagonist, balancing cheerfulness with determination and making her journey a joy to follow. The supporting cast, from undead pirates to smug aristocrats, is equally memorable, and the script consistently delivers clever lines that reward players who take the time to exhaust dialogue options. This focus on personality and humor gives the game a lasting impression that lingers beyond its short runtime. Overall, Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD is a lovingly crafted adventure that captures the spirit of classic point-and-click games while remaining accessible and polished for modern audiences. It does not aim to challenge players with complex mechanics or sprawling narratives, but instead offers a concise, joyful journey filled with wit, charm, and heart. For fans of traditional adventure games, British humor, or character-driven storytelling, it stands as a delightful reminder of why the genre continues to endure. Rating: 8/10
Underrated hidden gem! I won this game in a private giveaway on SteamGifts 4 years ago, and I never gave it a chance until today and honestly, I'm impressed by every little detail of it! There are lots good reviews written for this game already, so I won't bother with a big one. I'll just say a couple of things that I found incredible: 1. Voice acting! 2 people did voice acting for the whole game and while I liked both of their voices, male voice actor was just phenomenal! You won't even notice all of the characters having same person behind them! 2. Art style, obviously! Simple, yet beautiful hand-drawn visuals make the game stand-out! 3. Price!!! Less than $2 without a sale, even less in other regions! If you see this game, and you love puzzle games, definitely give it a try!
It's like an easier Monkey's Island derivative with British humor and a little bit of Leisure Suit Larry style puzzles thrown in as well. It's fairly easy for this type of game, I only got stuck once and it was because I had to find something in the background that's hard to see. The music is great and there's a ton of voice work. The graphics are obviously nothing special but if you can see past them it is a fun little adventure game with a few cool minigame elements included. There will be some "that was total nonsense" moments while playing, but that is expected of the genre.
Made me laugh out loud more for €1 than many a recent Netflix comedy special. Lovely little game.
Cute, enjoyable, but a bit a low-level adventure. + - Alasdair Beckett - do I have to say more?! ;-) - nice story - likable main character - really good humour (see below) - - probably awesome puns which unfortunately are difficult to understand for non-pirate-English-speakers - very short - sometimes there's a bit much trying-everything-with-everything needed to succeed, but I've played games way worse, so that's a minor point
