"Three If" rule of this game - If you think your reflexes are good, this game will change your mind. - If you think you're a patient person, this game will change your mind. - If you think you can't be surprised, this game will change your mind. the best life-changing game - 12/10
The game opens with a guy walking down the street. It’s pouring, but that doesn’t bother him because he has only one thing on his mind: reaching a bar that’s actually a mercenary club. Unfortunately, the bar has strict rules and doesn’t let just anyone wander around. And since you’ve lost your credentials, you have no choice but to start over from the bottom at the lowest rank. Missions are played in order and you don’t get to choose. Each one always starts in the bar, where you can ask the bartender for your mission objective and check out what he’s offering. You won’t be able to do much at the beginning because you have no money, but after a mission or two, you’ll be able to buy weapons, outfits that increase your stats, and a few miscellaneous items. Even better, your inventory carries over between missions, which means you can grab a weapon during a mission and keep it for future ones. However, you can’t carry much at first because you start with only four inventory slots. The best strategy is to finish a mission with something valuable, sell it, and use the money to buy an inventory expansion that helps you earn faster. You get paid for completing missions, but the biggest payouts come from selling loot. Your character is viewed from a top-down perspective. Since the screen is small and you can’t see far ahead, you can use a button to scout forward. This is important because you’ll want to stay stealthy and quiet for as long as possible. While walking, you can see the sound of your footsteps on the radar in the upper-left corner, but if you hold the stealth button, you won’t generate any noise. The radar also shows enemy vision ranges, so you can see how close you can get before being spotted. If you start shooting, everyone in the area will rush toward your location. Enemies are accurate, so you need to keep moving. However, this isn’t always bad because you can often take them out before they have a chance to fire back. It’s even possible to lure them one by one, which makes things much easier. Stages often have several floors, but enemies on other floors don’t know what’s happening on your current floor. Killed enemies drop their weapons and ammo, but you can also find other items scattered throughout the stage. These might be weapons or valuables you can sell back at the bar. Items are easy to spot since they glow slightly against the environment. Because everyone drops ammo, you don’t have to be overly cautious. You can afford to waste bullets, especially since both you and your enemies die from a single hit. There are several weapons available. For stealth, there’s a knife with some range that lets you silently take down a few enemies before switching to guns for the rest. There are pistols, machine guns, and shotguns with low range but wide spread, as well as rifles that shoot farther and even through doors. This is sometimes the only way to deal with a stubborn enemy hiding inside a room. There are some criticisms as well. For starters, your weapons don’t show a line of fire, which becomes a problem when trying to shoot around corners. Second, when enemies throw grenades, they’re immune to their own explosions and can walk right through them. Another major issue is that you have no idea what the objective is when entering a mission. There are no waypoints or other visual indicators on the radar or the screen. I also didn’t like the surprises—like when you clear a floor, leave, and later return to find new enemies have appeared. If you attract enemies and change floors, you won’t know what’s going on with them. Most of the time, you’ll switch floors again and run straight into danger. But the biggest issue is the time limit for completing each stage. Combined with slow gameplay (since you can’t run and have to move carefully), unfamiliar level layouts, and no visible objectives, it’s easy to run out of time simply because you don’t know what to do. Like in the hotel level, where you start unarmed, must sneak past enemies, find a code, and use it somewhere. All these issues lead to frustrating repetition, since even a good run can be ruined. There are no checkpoints mid-stage, so you might clear several floors only to be taken out by a stray bullet, erasing all your progress and forcing you to replay the entire level.
Whoa, this game is a whole journey. The first stage is just pure hate 'cause the bots don't forgive a single slip-up. At some point, probably around your 50th death smh, you become Neo and just style on everyone. But then you hit these puzzles and you're back to feeling like a beginner. All of it goes down to a fire soundtrack (big plus right there). Bro, I don't know how, but do your thing. (Casuals, get rekt)
