I haven't been able to play this game in forever since this game is heavy on CPU usage, I think it's good but honestly Tremulous and Unvanquished does the same concept except way better (for starters, there isn't a commander system and multiple people can take on building structures), only issue with both though is that barely any people play Trem or Unvq so Natural Selection 2 might still be pleasing to some people, 100+ people still play this game daily as per SteamDB. NS2 is 5 euros and goes on sale for 1 euro, if you like multiplayer shooter games I'd suggest to give this a try

I've tried this game a few times, and while it's sometimes fun, the fun doesn't last. It's extremely one-sided with a strong bias towards the aliens. Once they get virtually any of their upper-tier units, the game is already over. If even one player has one, they can run into a group of marines, kill one or two, then run away to recover for a few seconds before repeating. I have never seen the marines successfully defeat one, even in as many as a 4-on-1 encounter, and it gets worse when you remember that any and all of the alien players can become one. Early-game in any match is usually fun, but don't be fooled. Maybe you'd enjoy it as an alien, but it's just not a balanced game.
Жалко что игра мервтая
I was there for NS1 — clans, chaos, and late‑night laughter. NS2 came along, and life pulled us apart. I haven’t touched it in years, but my fondest memory? Being swallowed whole by an Onos, staring into its abyss more times than I care to admit. Some things you never forget. Recommended for masochists, biologists, and anyone nostalgic for clan warfare… preferably with a strong stomach. Pros: + Fun multiplayer with strong team spirit + Unique asymmetrical gameplay (marines vs aliens) + Strategy and coordination matter as much as reflexes + Nostalgic clan vibes if you’ve got friends to squad up Cons: - You do need to actually aim and shoot—no hiding behind strategy alone - Learning curve can be steep for newcomers - Player base isn’t as bustling as it once was - Frequent encounters with the Onos’s digestive tract (immersion, but not the kind you asked for) - Oh right, and you need to have a stomach for colorful language and a lack of support from people who no longer play games.
One of the best games ever made. Damn shame it's dead as hell. Damn, damn, damn shame.
Peak, 10/10. The game knows what it wants to be and nails it in every way.
