Much of this game is good, the additional mechanics breathe new life into the sudoku base. Unfortunately, one of the three game modes (Duel) is unplayable. In this mode, you're playing against the computer, taking turns to place a number for a point. Turns out, though, that there's an invisible turn timer! While you're thinking hard about your move (made much worse by the next issue), the computer just chugs along, placing number and earning points. Puzzle games are not suppose to be real-time! The problem with Duel is made even more insulting by the fact that the game (like many - but not all! - sudoku games) insists on making you manually complete the tedious, error-prone, no-logic-involved initial penciling. This process takes forever and how you're suppose to fit it in with a turn timer I haven't the faintest idea.
You can't handle the uber instincts, of my uber autism. OBSERVE.

It takes a bit to understand how the game works, but once you do it's pretty neat. There are several interesting Sudoku variants, as well as the main game which combines the different variants into a mega puzzle.
This is excellent sudoku game. Nine original sudoku types/rulesets (never seen any of those before). Pretty good random generator for puzzles - higher difficulty will require more advanced solving techniques. Not every existing technique required though. I'd love to try even higher difficulty sudoku - like those on "Cracking the cryptic" youtube channel. Some UI is not clear or immediately noticeable. In "light" sudoku I noticed "notes" panel only after few hours, so tried to remembered the relation of colors and numbers. Same with "power" (chess) sudoku switch to show chess pieces. Maybe add some kind of tutorial on starting each game type first time, at least bare minimum to explain UI specific for this sudoku type?
Its beyond good.
Dangerously addictive. I played the demo and the Ocarina of Time-themed sudoku puzzle hunt the developer released previously, but the full game blows both of those out of the water. Love the new, unique Sudoku variants. There are several options for difficulty, ranging to easy puzzles that beginners can solve to hard puzzles that even a veteran will take their time on. The puzzles being randomly generated also leaves a ton of room for replayability. Controls feel good, soundtrack is very catchy and fits perfectly. Might honestly be my favorite new release this year so far. Highly recommended!
First of all, the variants themselves are fun. Even if you remove the Zelda-esque layer that links (haha!) the 5 puzzles together in the trials, the puzzles are fun to play, they feel good, and most of them I've never seen elsewhere. If you simply want single sudokus with those variants, just rush a few easy trials and you'll get the keys needed to unlock those. But obviously the meat of the game is the trials, the sets of 5 interlinked boards. After playing the original "prototype" (I don't think it was meant as a prototype but now it kinda feels like it) that you can play here for free, I wanted more of that concept. And Steam put this game front page for me two days ago. Absolutely exactly what I hoped for and wanted from the original. And the price is super fair too! Also, there's some story, I don't know yet if there's a payoff or anything in mechanics that unlocks with that, but to be honest I'm not really following it, I just want to puzzle. So far it seems entirely skippable and, well, no offense to anyone, but I'm fine with that. So, skippers rejoice? Anyway, all in all, very solid game, worth waaaaaay more than its asking price for anyone even mildly interested in sudokus and wanting more fun variants, and the trials mode (the main one) simply is the cherry on top of all of that.
This is cool game. If you played the Zelda Randomizer Sudoku and wondered if this one was worth picking up, it absolutely is. The gimmicks are generally pretty good, and the fact that they're randomized never felt like it hurt at all. The writing isn't... very good, but I did find myself interested in the lore by the time I got to the end. It was a little annoying trying to get enough coins to hear all of the conversations, considering the fact that I had already unlocked everything else that I wanted to long before I finished, but I was glad that I did. I think the music was done actually really well, all of the songs were good for puzzling to. I found myself humming along to most of them. All in all, I'd gladly purchase a DLC that just... added like 9 more puzzle types without any other content. It's solid, give it a try! AN ADDENDUM AFTER PLAYING FOR A BIT MORE: This game rules. I keep coming back to it, even after having gotten all of the achievements and everything. It's good even past the novelty of the gimmicks, they all hold up on repeat plays.
Great sudoku game with 9 very cool variants ranging in complexity. Some of them are fairly close to typical sudoku (like land & sky) but they all feel distinct both from standard sudoku puzzles and from each other. Easy mode is a good warmup, but Normal & Hard are where it's at--I find that a couple particular variants can largely be solved with classic sudoku reasoning on Easy, but Normal and Hard force you to engage more thoroughly with the new mechanics. Definitely worth full price for the breadth of modes.
A solid sudoku game with interesting variants. The trials encourage you to step back and refocus every once in a while, which is nice.
