Advertised as a monster catcher plus roguelike, game is exactly that. Short but fun, I thought the mython were pretty cool and clearly multiple playthroughs are necessary to see all of them. Music is pretty good, battle music in particular is funky. Overall a fun time.
A legitimately fun game that deserves more attention. This game features a big open world to explore as you collect creatures called Mython, battling and taking on the story in pretty much any way you want with a surprising amount of customization options like difficulty modes, exp share toggles, optional permadeath, and more. The graphics are vibrant, the OST slaps super hard, and I'm having a lot of fun exploring the island and discovering the various monsters. This game is certainly worth your time if you are a fan of monster tamers.
I had fun playing my first run, judging by the updates it looks like a big overhaul update is planned soon so i will wait to play more but for now the game has great potential.
Hidden Gem with some minor bugs. Just remember to save now and again and you'll be fine.
The game is fine, but the ui needs an overhaul. Having to scroll by clicking on a scrollbar is not appealing. I also suggest swapping strike and skill list, since it seems better most of the time to use a skill. Back button should be at the bottom of lists too or personally not there at all with a keyboard button replacing it, or even clicking outside the box would do. As for the overworld, maybe an mmo camera would be nice. Tank controls with a click and drag camera. This would allow for clickable buttons on the screen like party view and bag view. I love the idea of this game, I really do, but the ui is just not great.
Do you like Monster Tamers? Do you like an open world, open ended game with exploration? Maybe even a Roguelike mode? Then this game is just for you, I have about 30 hours give or take in the game, I have done both the Roguelike mode, and the Adventure mode, I have the game about 90% done or so and its amazing. Probably one of the better Monster Tamers I have played in a long time, the graphics are nice, the OST is awesome, the sheer content isnt HUGE but it is big. You have about 8 Knights/Gyms to fight in the story mode, followed by the final boss. After this you can do a number of things. A: Capture all 108 Mython in the game and complete your log B: Do the post quest after the main story. C: Capture all Radiant/Shiny Mython D: Hit level 100 E: Collect all 100 Void Shards around the map F: Challenge the Knights again to grind Power Shards to evolve Mython, XP to level Mython up, and Muuluh. Evolving your Mython is also really unique compared to other Monster Tamers you might of played, to evolve a Mython, you need to find a power capsule, or 5 power shards. When you get either of these requirements met, go look for the Power Spire near the Basic Knight to the left of Haven, then speak to the "Place of Power" and it will allow you to evolve a Mython, now there's no real need to evolve them either though, if you want, a non evolved Mython can beat the game with the right team, and you dont miss out on certain attacks like you would in Pokemon if you evolve too early etc. However due note, evolving Mython will boost their stats and unlock certain attacks, so it is helpful, just not needed. This game also features a lot of options when in the game, if you head to the hub area "Haven," you can find an NPC that will up the difficulty, change how XP works between your party, add perma death, etc. Now, the game does have FPS drops in some areas, and I agree its not the best performance even with a fairly good pc, but that is easily fixable with optimization that is being done sometime soon. The story isn't much, but it also doesn't make you do a bunch of stuff that means nothing, you have a clear objective to beat the 8 Knights, then seal the Void, that's it. The models aren't the highest quality, and some people may hate on them, but personally I think they all look good, and some even amazing. This is actually the developers first game ever, and he is the only person to really work on it, so that really shows how great it is too in my opinion. I would say this game is well worth the price in my opinion and I really do not regret it. I would rank this game as my favourite monster tamer of all time right next to Pokemon Soul Silver or Diamond.
The game is pretty good, first day of having it, spent 90% of my play time so far just hunting for the radiants (the game's version of shinies) the graphics arent top teir, and some creatures look rather funny, but the story so far is very likable with its own challenges. Visionstead helped me fix a bug in my game, the dev definitely cares about their game and is willing to help fix them! that's a plus for me, definitely suggest giving this game a try. I will definitely be putting more time in as the game progresses cause I have an unhealthy addiction to shiny hunting. :)
A pretty unique monster taming game with roguelike mechanics. I just completed my first story run and had a lot of fun discovering the very unique monster designs and experiencing the story of the game. The game also offers a survival mode where you can get a random team which seems perfect for just jumping in and playing. The game offers different paths for you to take as you go through the story and depending on the options it gives you, you will get a completely different experience from the last "run" that you did. You may get places to evolve your monsters, heal them, a random event like a battle or gift monster, a shop, and others that I'm sure I've yet to see. The OST is super relaxing and also intense at the right moments, I mostly enjoyed every track I heard. I really enjoyed the attack animation effects too, they were all very fitting to the overall aesthetic of the game. As I said before the monster designs are very unique, I really loved a good portion of them because some of them are kind of abstract. The game while in Early Access seems to offer a lot here with the amount of replay value it has going through and experiencing different runs each time with the generated paths. I already have seen that the dev has listened to feedback here and improved the game and they were very helpful with answering any questions I had before purchasing. I have no doubt they will continue to add to this game and make it better than it already is in early access. Tldr; if you like Pokemon and roguelikes like Slay the Spire or generated path type games then you should give this game a shot. It's a lot of fun and super charming and offers a lot of opportunity for replay value. I'm excited to dive in for more runs and see what else there is to discover.
Picked it up and didn't put it down till i beat it. good monster tamer.
