Before you lies your Donut. You can pull and twist it, snap and swish it. You have a whole arsenal of settings, presets and tools to play with. You can freeze it, relax it, save any contortion to be viewed later. You can even rip it apart so it returns to the void from which it came.
Played On: HTC Vive
My Lil' Donut is what it is, and it does what it says it's going to do; it allows you to bend, twist, shape, and mold a jiggly donut. With that said, the controls are pretty clunky by today's standards, and I couldn't get my donut to do what most people seem to have done with theirs. There's not really a whole lot going on here anyway, and given that this application came out in mid-2016 with the onset of consumer VR, it's not very surprising that it hasn't aged well. Most of the reviews here came from that 2016 launch period when not a lot of content was available, so pretty much everything wowed audiences in VR back then. With that said, in 2019 there's just not really much reason to play around with this little application; it's clunky, outdated, and there are far better ways to spend your time. Undoubtedly the future of donuts. Recommended for artists, futurists, and those on 10-40 micrograms of LSD. Not recommended for ANYONE who hates delight, has an aversion to synthesizers, or who is trying to think deeply about tax exemptions. Regarding the developer, in all seriousness: Cabbibo is one of the most interesting makers in VR today. Each project feels personal and expansive, and his chillwave-meets-DeepDream aesthetic is never not interesting, and frequently revelatory.
I don't really know what to say other than Isaac (Cabbibo) consistently does amazing things in VR. Anybody who has a Vive but doesn't have everything he's released is not getting their money's worth. Spent almost an hour in this after telling myself I was "just checking it out." Will be high on my list of essentials to show VR newbies.
my donut is invisible :(
My Lil' Donut is a free VR program. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has instructions. Try it for a trippy time.
Cool to look at but not much here. Worth a look but you probably wont come back.
