Story
My Isekai after like is an rpg!? was quite interesting in concept where you are a generic gamer who is a man of culture and plays them visual novels with the waifus and husbandos. You died of a cardiac arrest from the doritos and mountain dew and are in wonderland with a bunch of lovely ladies. Each one has its own “gimmick” because in terms of personality, they each have a trope popular to anime and overexaggerated, such as the tsundere goddess, who belittles you, or the loli goddess, which is lacking in maturity, is ok though, she is really 200 years old; and so on.
Gameplayer
Very generic Rpg style with some resource collecting. There is the “hub world” of clouds and goddesses, where you are essentially tasked with collecting 300 wood and 200 stone to build a house. The process takes about an hour or less if you rush through it, but the payoff is being able to enter a house, and be told about a vendor, which at the time of this review has not been implemented from what I surmised. The rest of the game is just standard jrpg turn-based combat and clicking to break apart resources and collect them for your promised house. That’s it, it seems sadly like the game was rushed to release when more could have been definitely added. At the moment it feels like an alpha which is never good, but the game has a little option so graciously called “view DLC” which implies the dev has dlc planned when the game is not even complete, so it does not give the best impressions. Grinding aside, the collecting was fairly relaxing to some extent.
3/10
Overall, I would definitely recommend waiting to see if any more content is added and some minor glitches are fixed before purchasing this. Such glitches include being stuck to a tree while running around avoiding enemies and visual glitches while in dialogue which has enemies clipping on top of the text box in a shop keeper’s dialogue. This is a hard game to rate. I really like the Artstyle and the Dialog that exists is pretty funny and cute which makes me believe that this game will be pretty cute overall however the way it is right now I still kinda have the feeling that it isnt really a full game yet. I really am missing some more help whilst playing as you dont really know what you are supposed to do and I also think that there really isnt much to do. You get put into a world with 4 godesses with who you can talk too and you can also traverse through a portal where a few small islands are on which you can fight 1 type of monster unless you let the monster hit you then it changes into a turn based combat system in which i believe 2 different monsters exist. You also dont really get much more info on that and from what I can tell it is pretty much pointless to fight. The second thing you do on these islands is farm resources, that is wood, stone and a type of gem. So overall at this current point of the game you pretty much just spam ur right mouse button to collect all the resources and thats it. I only got to buy two things for the resources and I also got a house now however I dont really know what I am supposed to do and from what I can tell there cant really be much more content. I am pretty sure there is more dialogue and you can get some more furniture for your house and stuff but the game right now is quite bland with too little content. I do think that the game will be quite cute once it gets more content but for now I cant really recommend it as there just isnt nearly enough to do. I am still leaving a thumbs up cause I believe that the Dev will make it a fun game but it is probably better to wait for more added content before buying it. Oh and the game also has a few bugs still, like sometimes when I go through the portal it teleports me to the wrong place and I am just stuck so I have to restart the game. Overall feels a bit too early to be released imo. Check out my Curator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34401214/
While the art style is cute, the game is so grindy it gets boring fast (imagine how bad the grind was I used an autoclicker to make it more bearable). There's also a noticeable lack of content as if the game was released way too soon or they didn't plan anything else to add. Seriously, avoid this game.
<-- Review written for 3 Point Play -->
A pretty small, pretty chill, little game about living some sort of after-life which most weebs know of, that is, the isekai resurrection thing. Featuring some cutesy pixel graphics and easy mechanics, I think this particular game here can be appealing to anyone who enjoys anime and is not that much into gaming, since, once again, everything is pretty much entry-level mechanic-wise: you click people to interact, you click objects to collect materials, you move in a standard fashion with the WASD keys, and you do your combat stuff with WASD + Enter. Overall, it's a really cute game, I guess that is it's main appeal. Honestly, there's not much to do, and that's kinda sad, because I was already enjoying it. Right now, you can get one hour of gameplay at most to do everything the game has to offer, but the promises of further updates make it appealing, yet it feels a bit confussing over the fact that this is not actually an early-access title. Right now, you can talk with a few goddesses, but their personality is not really built upon, and they kind of seem to hate you, collect stuff in order to get a house, yet you can't purchase furniture nor interact with it in any meaningful way, and it does change its colour everytime you get out of it. The combat system is kinda bland, as you only have three skills and there aren't animations for them. Enemies always do 4 damage and don't really have any particular mechanics to them, and thus, you should only die if you forget to fix yourself up with the Nurse NPC. Well, it was pretty fun. I reckon I'm doing a disservice by reviewing it now. My recommendation would actually be to buy this game if you're interested on getting involved with its updates, suggesting content and helping shape it out, but otherwise, you'd probably be better off waiting for a few more updates that might add up extra gameplay and overall content in this game. I, for one, will also be looking forward to new content.
What could possibly go wrong here? OCD-style gathering, turn-based combat, your own home, dialogues seasoned with dry nihilism . I mean,
"Well, you spent so much time being a loser, that you didn't have any time to kill or steal. "
? That's the story of my life, ffs
"My Isekai After Life is an RPG!?" is a 2D retro pixel JRPG/interactive novel that's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. Like most fan made/indie construction kit JRPGs, this is basically a cringey highschool tier fan-fiction and a bunch of low quality assets/sprites. This looks to have been made by filling out a JRPG template for GameMaker Studio. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. Using a video game construction kit requires little to no talent or skill as a game developer. Very often, GameMaker Studio is used to make shovelware and lazy cash grabs, and this is a plausible theory as this construction kit game has a completely unrealistic $6 USD price tag, and was very quickly dumped into DailyIndieGame shovelware bundles to exact as much money as possible from a template/construction kit effort. Like most GameMaker Studio construction kit "games", this features lazy 2D retro pixel "art", instead of professionally done, contemporary PC graphics. Controls and resolution are locked, which pushes this below acceptable standards for PC. It's impossible to recommend this to serious PC gamers.
i payed for this and there goes 6 dollars i wont get back, dont buy it the game is not complete there is no romance their is nothing
The game was very nice at first i thought the game won't be good for me or even fun to play , but after playing it for a while now ,i actually loved it and it was super fun while it was short im actually looking forward to the DLC . i highly recommend giving it a try
