This is a surprisingly good game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhjDMnKZuXk I was concerned when I saw the use of asset store horses, as the ones currently available on the market aren't particularly impressive HOWEVER the game itself is quite varied and enjoyable! Pros: - Not 'saving the ranch' storyline (THANK GOODNESS) - Simple graphic style - Good storytelling - Good game mechanics - Cart driving (omg no horse game does this!) - Interesting challenges - Set in a modern world Cons: - Some assets don't fit well with graphic style - The camera can be restrictive at times - Horses are from asset pack and aren't very accurate to life - AI voicelines Overall this game is genuinely a breath of fresh air in the horse game space and despite the horses not being particularly realistic, the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Note: Game was purchased on release date What a cute short game! There's plenty of land to explore (still have yet to find all its mysteries) and the quests in this game remind me so much of old school Star Stable (not that the two can be compared one-for-one!). Pros:

Horse is responsive and handles well
You're able to customise your horse (and yourself to an extent) on a whim instead of being stuck with what you choose
Controls feel intuitive
Graphics on high look pretty (my old clunker can only handle medium or lower, sadly)
Relaxed game play, perfect for taking in the landscape around you
Hose to fill a water trough instead of a bucket or watering can? Genius!
Why yes, that's a wagon you saw in the trailer! It's easy to hitch your horse to. Cons:
Glitches will happen in this game, but they're minor and aren't anything a reboot of the game can't fix (like being unable to tie your horse to a post). No game breaking glitches to report so far.
Not being able to open your phone to look at the map while mounted makes navigation a bit slow. Be sure to have a photographic memory. Sven's van, once fixed, is a godsend.
You can brush and feed your horse, but you can't pet it. Poor thing!
Dialogue cannot be stopped once initiated. Want to stop having the same conversation to Felix that you've had before? Sorry, you have to wait 'til it's over. Recommendations to the creator for future updates to the game:
Please let us pet our adorable horse!
Wider variety of food to feed horse (Oats? Carrots? Barley?)
Phone access while mounted
Option to speed through/skip dialogue if it's been said before
Placeable way marker for map navigation (like how the quests have markers)
Horse is able to graze while out and about: would be beneficial to allow horse to drink from lakes and rivers while idle
Voice acting will polish this game immensely
Spelling and grammar fixes are needed
Despite its flaws and the relative shortness, I highly recommend giving this game a go! Be sure to wait for a sale, however.
I do recommend this game if you are in for a chill gaming sesh. Really nice wholesome game suitable for anyone who enjoys horsing around. Tend to leave the horse on autodrive to see where he goes without steering. Doesn't have the most realistic graphics, but it does run well on older computers/potato laptop as well.
I want to leave a neutral review so bad... The promise of horse adventures in the trailer for this game is so high. This game has a lot of features I often don't encounter in horse games -- cart pulling, of all things? Unheard of. I had to pick it up and give it a chance! But the hope of finally having a game where you can ride off into the sunset for a summer of horse-based adventures is marred by the technical problems you'll have to overcome to get there: and thus, I cannot currently recommend My First Horse: Adventures on Seahorse Island. Simply put, the controls in this game are kind of... fiddly. Press X to do something? Alright! And then press it a few more times until it works. Set down my stuff in the house before heading to the barn? Alright... oh, you mean on this one specific pixel which will trigger the next event in the script? My bad, I guess... but ah, putting a saddle on my horse, now that I can do! As soon as I figure out the specific, narrow range in which this action is permissible! Interacting with the world is consistently a very vague and imprecise experience where it feels less like your actions cause an effect, and more like "if I mash X/E and wiggle around near this marker, eventually I will find the trigger-point the game wants me to go to." And worst of all... the camera controls once you're mounted make me flat-out dizzy. If you need to change directions on horseback, the camera moves along with the arrow keys you use to control your horse- meaning if you don't actively move the mouse counter-clockwise, you just kind of go in circles instead of the direction you want to go. Video games don't usually give me motion sickness, but this is the exception. The camera sits extremely close to the player character with no way to adjust it, and that makes even navigating inside of a building an experience of clipping through objects and futility. An FoV slider would, by itself, go a long way in making this game more accessible to play. On the plus side, the game is clearly a labor of love. Even in my limited time playing I discovered a hidden outfit, found some apples to feed my horse, and saw some suspicious piles in the paddock I have no doubt will need to be mucked out. I appreciate that bridling and saddling and so on are separate tasks, I enjoy all the little details this game has to offer so far, and I want to explore more of this world! But right now, as the game currently stands, I am of the opinion that it needs some more QoL improvements before I can recommend it -- as right now, I personally cannot play it without getting dizzy. I won't refund the game, because it's newly-released, and I have hope that it will continue to be improved with time! I will keep checking in on it. And if the day comes that I can whole-heartedly recommend it to others, I'll be here to update this review. Fingers crossed!
Jeden Cent wert.
It's a very sweet game. The level of polish isn't high but it was clearly made by a small team with a lot of love. If you are looking for a very relaxed game to spend some time with, this one is a good call Positives: Controls are easy and intuitive The horse animations are done well Sound effects are lovely Small details like Olivia ducking when riding under something, music getting louder when riding the horse, and the inclusion of a hobby horse (very cute) Options to hose, brush, feed and water the horse Open customisation that you can change at any time using the phone Nice scenery The game could be even better if the dialogue had some changes and was proofread, and if there were fewer glitches. Still a really solid game overall. It would be fantastic if you added more tack options, like english saddles etc.
I won this game in a steam key giveaway and after playing I have my review. The gameplay is innovative for what you normally see for horse games. It's not tedious like many others, and I love the little things you get to do. The graphics are not stellar by any means but we all grew up on boxy early 2000s Let's Ride Games, so its a small improvement for them yet still clunky and awkward. The people, the girl especially, moves around way too much and throws her hands and arms around when talking a lot, more than is appropriate for conversation. I wanted my character to go to bed at night and end the day but she kept saying it was too early until it was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing in the game anymore. I wish I could access the map on my phone without having to dismount because finding my way around the island isnt easy. I wasn't sure if the game auto saved either, so luckily when I had to close it and came back, it was at the same place I left it. I do like driving the cart, this is the first time I have seen a game with that. I was very surprised when the credits rolled. The game is pretty short. I am sure you can still play but I am not certain if there is more story to come or you just free play. I would prefer there be more storyline/quests then just empty free game play. There is very much of the world left unexplored so I can only hope more story will come in the future. Despite being clunky and awkward, the gameplay is innovative and more original and less tedious than many other horse games. It's much suited as a cute game for kids more than anything, but I enjoyed it and I hope there will be more to it.
THE GAME IS THE BEST
I really loved this game, I just wish it was a bit longer. The horse controls were fun and I enjoyed the care for the horse and that you can dismount and lead the horse around. Would love this game if it was just a bit longer
Keine 25€ Wert, es ist viel zu kurz und hat zuviele Bugs. Musste ständig neu Starten weil es sich aufgehangen hat.
