"Musicle" is a frankly awful idea, implemented badly. Basically you get to play Dance Dance Revolution to Youtube videos that you choose to play, because the developer wasn't able to come up with any content, so, you know, the acme of game development is to get the gamers to supply the content for you so you don't have to do any work. Jeez.
What do you do in the game? Pick a youtube video then play Dance Dance Revolution to the music. Or don't. This was a dismal failure. Delusionally, the developer is also charging money for this crap through cosmetic DLC. Ugh.
The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers.
The graphics aren't great, none really, just an interface menu and a minimalist rhythm section. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises.
This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this.
Even after that, the developer has their hand out for $14 USD worth of DLC for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC packages from Steam to fully unlock everything. This is deliberately deceptive pricing when a single up front free would be more honest. The game should not be considered free due to this shady pricing structure.
Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
