I'd say... recommended with reservations, at around 90ish% through the game. (Maybe get it on sale and/or bundled, as I did, IF you like nonograms and mysteries.) Pros: Decent nonogram game with some cute characters plus interesting mystery story Cons: Doesn't have a chat log if you miss dialogue from the story, which is not hard to do There's a bunch of like... sound and flashing effects throughout the story, many of which feel unnecessary to me, and can be unpleasant or disruptive (or potentially even a health issue, with the flashing, beyond average videogame stuff?). Really easy to miss a puzzle in Case 3 that prevents unlocking a cutscene, which I found out only after I'd missed it, and I haven't gone back to do so yet but suspect that unlocking it will require replaying that whole case. (I hear you should
make sure you search the bar after Crispin appears
) Sometimes I've had issues with the puzzles like... rejecting my clicks and immediately undoing a square I've filled in? Difficulty in late game: I have quite a bit of experience with nonograms but most if not all the puzzles in the late game are quite challenging, which I suspect will be forbidding for newer players/prevent them unlocking the cut scene stuff (since hints apparently reduce score), and makes the nonogram part of that stage of the game less fun and more like a slog for me. I wish there was a bit more of a mix of difficulties throughout. (nonogram difficulty is not strictly about puzzle size; how many rows have an obviously helpful clue is a big part of it)
If you like playful visual novels but get bored and want to *do* something after a while, here you go. I typically like "between games" with very little expectation. If you like nonograms and silly cartoon stories, you'll enjoy this one for the duration. For what this game aims to be - 8/10
After a long break I got back to this and finished it fully. Had to take a year long hiatus and forget about this game since there's just too many nonograms and they take way too long. That and the game just puts me to sleep every time, it's like a magic spell.
I have completed the story mode and all of the post-game puzzles. While the game is somewhat lacking in QOL features, I did, by and large, enjoy the game, except for one glaring issue. Every case contains at least one set of timed Picross puzzles. These sets of timed puzzles must be completed to progress and the time allotted is anything but generous. Yes, they can be retried infinitely with no penalty (except for the player's frustration and wasted time, of course) until completed but if you are just not fast enough, for whatever reason? Too bad, so sad, no more progress for you. Given that this is a puzzle game that one can reasonably expect to be able to complete only by exercising one's little grey cells, not one's reflexes, I consider this an unforgivable design decision that warrants a negative rating.
If you like this kind of puzzle then you will love this as its not just mindless puzzles over and over. There is a storyline and plot that makes it much more interesting.
Awesome :) Wished it had a sequel.
Puzzles get repetitive but I loved the characters and story!
Ace Attorney meets picross!!!!!!!! Love this combo

If you like Picross you'll probably love this game. Cute characters, fun puzzles, and catchy music by Masakazu Sugimori, probably best known for the Phoenix Wright games.
