Mousebusters, also known by some players as “Mouse Busters”, is a story-driven adventure game about tiny mice fighting ghosts.
You just moved into your new place, and are excited to settle in…when all of a sudden, you get turned into a mouse! Thankfully, you soon meet a fellow rodent who knows how to help.
He asks you to call him “Chief,” and explains that there’s only one way to break the curse: by ridding the whole apartment building of the ghosts that haunt its inhabitants!
In each apartment, you'll find a different ghost—but it won't be that easy to track them down. It seems they prey on negative emotions, so in order to smoke them out, you'll have to do some major recon to figure out each resident's biggest insecurities. Just don't get caught!
Luckily, you won't have to go it alone, because you'll be in frequent contact with the Chief throughout each mission. From his comfy desk at HQ, he'll offer plenty of guidance and comedic commentary as you scour the building and solve puzzles to find each ghost.
Once you've tracked down the source of each resident's woes, you'll have to whip out your trusty ray gun and perform a good ol' fashioned exorcism. Protect yourself from projectiles while targeting their weak points to expose their spectral cores!
Over the course of your investigations, you'll slowly uncover more and more evidence that suggests something far more ominous is going on with this building...and it seems the Chief knows more about the curse than he's letting on. Just how deep does this conspiracy go?

Die Charaktere sind glaubwürdig und charmant. gameplay: -Steamdeck: Das Aiming mit dem Blaster ist perfekt eingestellt. -PC: Das Aiming ist ziemlich schwierig, da es überempfindlich eingestellt ist. Leider gibt es keine Einstellungsmöglichkeit im Menü.
Came for the cute mouse jams, stayed for the feels. Short and sweet game with wonderful art, music, and a heartwarming story that hits you where you least expect it. Always been a fan of the way Odencat weaves social commentary and life lessons into their games, and this one is no different. Gameplay was a bit linear for me, but it's a port from a mobile game, so understandable. Love this steam port for the bonus content, especially the Bear's Restaurant one. No spoilers, just go play the game! <3 (Also please make Chief and MC plushies, I would buy in a heartbeat!!!!!!!)
Mousebusters ist ein wirklich gemütliches Point-and-Click-Abenteuer, das sich perfekt für ein paar entspannte Stunden eignet. Das Gameplay ist angenehm simpel gehalten, ohne dabei langweilig zu werden, und gerade die charmante Aufmachung hat mich ziemlich schnell abgeholt. Was zunächst nach einer eher kleinen und niedlichen Geisterjäger-Geschichte aussieht, entwickelt im Laufe des Spiels überraschend viel Tiefe. Gerade der Hintergrund der Story ist deutlich deeper, als ich anfangs erwartet hätte, und gibt dem Ganzen gegen Ende nochmal eine ganz andere Ebene. Dazu kommen einige schöne Anspielungen und Easter Eggs, bei denen man merkt, dass sich die Entwickler durchaus Gedanken gemacht haben. Die Spielzeit liegt insgesamt bei ungefähr fünf Stunden, was für mich ziemlich gut gepasst hat. Das Spiel zieht sich nicht unnötig in die Länge und ist genau lang genug, um seine Geschichte zu erzählen. In anderen Rezensionen hatte ich vor allem Kritik am Aiming gelesen. Zumindest auf dem PC hatte ich damit allerdings überhaupt keine Probleme und fand die Steuerung vollkommen in Ordnung. Vielleicht nicht das präziseste Aiming der Videospielgeschichte, aber definitiv nichts, was mir negativ aufgefallen wäre oder den Spielspaß beeinträchtigt hätte. Alles in allem ist Mousebusters einfach ein schönes kleines Spiel, das deutlich mehr zu bieten hat, als man auf den ersten Blick vielleicht erwartet. Wer Lust auf ein gemütliches Point-and-Click-Abenteuer mit Charme und einer überraschend deepen Story hat, kann hier eigentlich nicht viel falsch machen. Mousebusters is another fantastic game from Odencat. The pixel art is absolutely charming, packed with personality and detail, and the soundtrack perfectly balances the game's spooky, cozy, and emotional moments. Every apartment and resident feels distinct, making exploration consistently enjoyable. The ghost-busting gameplay is surprisingly fun as well. The shooting segments add a welcome burst of action to the adventure and puzzle-solving, with satisfying boss encounters that keep your buttons tapping to save the apartment complex! Longtime Odencat fans will also appreciate the cameos and references to the studio's other games, which makes the world feel connected and rewarding to explore. And while Mousebusters delivers plenty of humor and charm, it's the emotional storytelling that truly stands out. The game's themes of insecurity, loneliness, and healing are handled with the same heart that made Odencat's previous titles so memorable. Cute, funny, heartfelt, and consistently engaging, Mousebusters is another reminder of why Odencat has become one of my favorite indie developers. Highly recommended,
