For supposedly being low budget, this is a great game. There are also quite a few mods to add stuff to the game or change the setting entirely, like Medieval Europe, The Galactic Empire or something original like Prophecy of Pendor. I believe the setting already is perfet though. A bit bland, but the music wins you over without even trying. If you like adventure, especially rising in power from a horse thief to a powermongering king, then don't even hesitate, get on your bloody horse and buy the game. IF YOU DISLIKE GRIND, however, then you will probably still like the game, but no longer for a day. There are some small things in the game that, with a little tweak, could have made it 200% more playable. You can enter a town's tavern and other places with a click from the menu, speak to a lord in a castle without entering it, also a mere click from the menu, as well as quicksell your inventory to merchants, without ever needing to walk to their markets. Such is not the case for important NPCs such as the guildmaster; I could spend up to two minutes or at the very least thirty seconds looking up them, or the village elder, all of whom could have been reduced to zero. Battles can also last for very long, even with a competent army. If you fight against a horde of horses and you're winning, then most of the time will be spent on chasing them. If your army swarms a heavily armored and protected knight, then most of the hits exchanged will bounced back because of friendly fire. Siege assaults also last very long. And know what? All those minutes spent could have been zero, zero and zero! Why? Because you can "quickbattle", send your units in without taking the lead and let the die decide. By doing this however, the result will either be broken or unfavorable. You could intervene in a huge battle against another army by quicksending some three troops and capture the enemy leaders, ransoming them for thousands, despite not contributing a dud to the fight. Kind of funny, but not so funny when you spend hours to train an elite regiment of impenetrable knights on heavy cavalry, and the game believes that some dozen peasants with stone clubs still manages to strike down two of them. Same logic applies to siege assaults, where 300 drooling pitchforked militiamen stands superior over the same fifty knights who would just slaughter them all, where you to be physically involved. I could go on and on, the arbitrary quest system, lack of information on game mechanics, random difficulty spikes… But it mostly narrows down to these: Grind, Time and Numbers. Still a great game for it’s time and small budget, but maybe that's all there is to it. Mods cannot save this game, there’s always more cracks than patches to cover up it’s flaws. With that said, the sequal is much better; you get quest arrows, ability to speedup battles, can ask for mercennary contracts... Honestly, the sequal improves everything there is. If you live in a castle and have all the time in the world, then this is for you. I just don’t like grinding for eight hours before the cogs start rolling, but maybe that’s just me because I live in a house.
vazgeçilmez..
I've about 40 hours on my PlayStation version, and I made the choice to get the PC version for mods. I am currently playing the game with the A Song of Ice and Fire mod installed. For anyone who ever wanted to pretend to be nobleperson who can become king/emperor, then this is the game that's bene waiting for you. Now, with that being said one should be aware that this does not have a story; it's a sandbox game, so the player is mostly just thrown into the game-world.
