I'm going to be honest: This game is rough around the edges; there's some stiff animations, textures aren't the best looking, there are some minor bugs, and what the hell is that font? BUT the sound design, lighting, the story, and especially the scares redeemed this game in my eyes. I'm going to be honest once more... I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOVED this game. It scared the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of me. As a horror streamer I have played the good, the bad, and the straight up terrible when it comes to indie horrors. On the surface, this game looked like it should have been terrible, but when you take into account that this is the dev's first ever game they did a fantastic job and did way better than most of the other garbage that gets released on steam. The dev did a great job with the unpredictability of jump scares. Usually in these type of games developers rely on cheap, in-your-face, obnoxious jump scares that take no effort to pull off. This time around I was constantly on my toes as the developer did a fantastic job of, what I call, bait-and-switch; having me focus on one thing while behind me was something else going on, essentially switching up where the real threat was coming from. There isn't much to say other than I had fun! Having to run away from my "mother" as she twisted and contorted her body, appearing out of nowhere, and whispering sweet demonic nothings into my ear had me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bricks the entire time. SpaceWheel Games, consider me a fan. You seem to have that unique mindset that makes horror genuinely terrifying, something a lot of developers lack, and I'm excited and hopeful for what you think of next. Great work.

I wanna start by saying thanks for sending me a code, I really appreciate it. Here is a review of my experience: First off, the game needs some technical fixes, the game bugged out twice and didn't let me progress the game. So I had to restart the game again. So that needs a patch ASAP. Second, the game needs subtitles. Some of the dialogues I couldn't hear too well. So putting some subtitles would greatly help the experience. Also a tasks list would be helpful too. The game is kinda vague on what you have to do. Those 2 above were the only negatives I've had, the positives is that the game is creepy and the jumpscares got me a few times so props on that. I enjoyed some of what I played. The story is alright from what I was able to understand. I'll have a link to my playthrough down below for anyone who wants to see my experience and thoughts on the game. First of all thank you developer to making this game. It made me so scared I was sweating. The game itself have it's own unique atmosphare, it makes you feel you are being hunted all the time. As an indie horror game it's a must play in my opinion. The game is challanging and it's not just a walking sim, that made the game way more intense and action packed. The game itself is long enough to keep you scared and intense. Tho i would be interested more about the story background, like what actually happened with the mom. The game have some bug that need to be polished. In all I can recommend this game to anyone who like horror games and I'm eager to wait what the developer next game will be, I will play it for sure. I’d rate this game 3/10, tbh. The only thing that’s scary is when she chases you — that’s it. Also, no tasks appear, and there are bugs when you walk around. The mother’s model looks funny. The main problem I faced in the game is that it’s soooo dark, bro! I had to adjust my NVIDIA control panel just to see. I don’t recommend it.

There is something very unsettling about being chased around by your mother. This game depicts that very well. Jumpscares, and needing to get near the mom to progress the game done well. The setting/atmosphere of the game done well. It truly makes you feel like your a kid(helpless), in this tense environment. Nothing scarier than not being able to outrun someone trying to kill you or defend yourself against something. There were only a couple issues I encountered when playing. When finally able to reach outside, the game wouldn't progress. The mother was caught behind some tress and not progressing the events of the game. This led to me exploring places off map I shouldn't have been. The only way to move forward was for me to start all the way over. The second being the frames dropping when reaching outside. It is very noticeable when you leave the house(smooth gameplay inside, consistent frames). Overall, I think Mother's Home is a solid game! The objective of scaring the gamer was successful. I recommend the game to all horror gamers, I think you will enjoy. Don't forget, this is the first game from this single dev The first one being this solid has me excited for the future of SpaceWheel Games. Again, thank you for the opporunity at trying the game!
