This has a pretty fun system, its relatively simple which can lead to some wild swings in matches where maybe it lacks complexity or guarantee that you can win flawlessly. But that kind of works for the true nature of a gladiator thing. I like the general idea and setting. The simplicity I think will lead to some repetitiveness on repeated go throughs. But it has a fun system and offers about enough for the price. I did beat the game on my first go, so those familiar with turn based tactic games probably wont struggle. Some things they dont fully explain, like that knockback has collision damage, and some are missing tooltip information about it. For me, I like the roguelike nature, but i cant really fathom why endless mode is locked from the start. Similarly, I think career mode should probably be in the base game originally, since its the natural progression for gladiator management. though i dont own the dlc (yet?) However there are additional unlockable modifiers to increase the challenge. I think you could easily get 10 hours out of this under £10 game before it gets boring or tedious. Endless mode should give it a bit more of an edge (and connection to your gladiators) but it badly misses a career like mode only available in the dlc (which i will review in the future once i purchase)
★★☆☆☆
I enjoy this much more than the 2nd one, and I keep going back to it. For me the randomness of this game & chaos is one part of what makes it so fun. The strategy element is addicting, you have to think about where you're investing your precious earnings. Into gear? Skills? Or build up specific stats on your gladiator? Should you hire a new gladiator altogether even though the one you've been using has racked up titles and experience???? Also the music is perfect, great job with that. My only gripe is that once you get to around 40 or 50 fights on endless mode, the enemy scales to ridiculous levels, like double the stats of what I'm able to acquire with my guys. I love the challenge but at that point it becomes less fun, I would like to see the scaling fine-tuned around that point. Starting a new team is part of the fun so I keep coming back regardless. Anyway, get this game.
Прикольно,но на 1 раз Сразу прошел всю арену Рандомные статы Звания Перки Все просто на рандоме Еще шмотки в магазин норм не завозят Бахнул маг на 200 урона... Но я все равно выиграл )
Good indie game

2+ hours for my 1st run (can Save & Quit anytime), ended 1 fight short of the final boss. Some of these random daily decisions are nail biters, game is niche enough there's no wiki to try to looking them up. I skipped the first 2-3, finally took the next (sacrifice) since I had 3 main fighters + 5-6 others. It killed my wizard with 120 base mana, but got a tome that gives the equipped fighter +80 mana & couple other bonuses. Was able to replace him 2 fights later. Easily could see myself putting in 20+ hours, but I'm more focused on console games right now. Only "issue" with the game is that bows (DLC) feel over-tuned early game, that range is exception strong when most gladiators can only move 1-2 spaces a turn. & late-game there's a quickshot ability that doesn't end your turn. There are some spells that lower enemy AP & dodge chance, which can make them manageable, but can be an absolute menace if you don't have that kind of magic.
Fantastic arena turn based RPG where your fighters are always getting stronger and the difficulty gradually builds between each fight. I beat normal in around 2 hours but there looks to be a couple things to unlock and the sheer variety offers a lot of variety for different runs.
Fantastic little game, 2 dollars on sale is just robbery. Judging from the amount of ratings this game deserves more attention. Really enjoyed my first playthrough but now that I won gotta go try MG2!
