The best way to describe this game is to call it Stardew Valley in VR. Yeah, I'm not kidding. However, understand this is a game in early access and the content available at launch shows as much. Do not let this stop you! In my current playthrough, I have about three hours logged in order to unlock all the items for sale in the shop and those three hours felt like they went by very quickly. I think part of this is do the full day and night cycle. This game includes an ever changing skybox that makes the game continue looking new over the course of your playtime. Each day in the virtual world lasts about 12 minutes in the real world, however you can choose to go to sleep in your bed at home at any time. This forces the game to go to the next day. As you can probably guess, the main point of this game is to start your own farm. You plow plants and water your crops daily. Each type of plant has a different cost, worth, and amount of time til cultivation. You have to water your plants each day in order to help them grow. The watering can in this game is very intuitive as are most of the tools in this game. There's a meter showing how much water is left in the pail, when it runs out, you have to go to a water source and refill it. Plowing in this game is also very easy. The amount of plowing can do per day is not based on libido but actually a stamina meter that requires sleep in order to refill. So the day is finally coming to an end. You can finally relax and explore. Now here is the part of the game that really impressed me. The world is stylized simply but it's absolutely gorgeous. It is an open-world game: you can walk anywhere on the map. This makes the world feel very believable in terms of scale. There are currently three main areas in the world: your home, a town, and the hunting range. Even though you can walk to every place on the map, if you choose not to do so, you have an iPad (sort of tablet thing) that you can teleport to any of these main three areas just to save some time. The town feels pretty dead right now due the lack of NPCs programmed into the game. The developer already stated this will be one of the first things added to the game, and that's a good thing because this game really needs that. It doesn't just need NPCs you can talk to; this beautiful wilderness really needs more animals. The only animals in the game right now are ducks. You can either feed them fruit or shoot them at the range for gold. The duck feeding feature currently seems to not have a purpose that I can see. When I asked a developer about it: he said you'll be able to keep animals on the farm in a later update. I'm guessing this heart meter is related to that. The ducks only eat citrus fruit that you find on trees at the side of the road. If you don't find any on the ground, a neat detail is the ability to actually slingshot them off their branches. The tutorial also taught you how to climb ladders. This was pretty bizarre to me at first because it seemed like there were no ladders in the game whatsoever. It turns out there aren't ladders, there are fences and you can climb up and over them. This felt actually pretty immersive to me. It's hard to describe a feel for some things in VR like this, so try to take my word for it. Another thing to note: while messing with the now fed duck, something came flying out of the sky and landed right next to me. At first I assumed there was some sort of monster shooting at me and I kind of freaked out but this object is actually a good thing. It's a clearly where the game gets its name from. It's called a moon stone and you can collect them during the night. You're able to see them fall from the sky like shooting stars and you can see them far away during the night as well. They're worth quite a bit of money. Other ways to make money are a couple minigames spread across the world. They need more of these but one of my favorite one is probably the challenge building near the shop that asks you to test your slingshotting skills. I spent like quite a bit of money just trying to get the max score and never got it. Very close though, two bottles away from getting that. Now let's go back to talk about things that this game needs very soon. The biggest one is music. This game has a lot of ambient noise and sound effects but absolutely no music. The developer says we'll be adding some soon but that seems like something they should be adding first. Another given is more areas to explore and items to grow. There apparently will be a dungeon to fight monsters at some point, so if you're into PvE that might be pretty good for you. Another thing I didn't really even think about, but is a really cool feature that they told me about is: they'll be adding vehicles at some point. Which really makes sense now that I think about it because there's a big highway that goes across all the areas. I can only imagine driving a truck on the highway in an overworld game like this and it just really sounds neat. I'm hoping they had a pickup truck so I could throw in a bunch of oranges in the back just to see if the physics will just make them go flying around everywhere. I also recommended that there should be daily tasks to get bonus gold if you complete them. This can help stop the monotony that could be present when you aren't doing anything during the day and are just waiting for the nighttime to fall. Anyway, there is probably more that could be added to this game and I'm sure there are things you've already thought about as well. Luckily the developer behind the title is incredibly kind and was super excited to receive feedback. He also placed a road map of what future features are to come under the early access tab on the steam store page. This along with all the pure fun I had while playing this game is why I want to make such an in-depth look at it. This game is something special and deserves support. So please check it out! This is a game with tons of potential and a great art style, I can see myself playing for hundreds of hours once the game is further worked out. My current positive -a great art style -a Large but empty world map to explore My Current Negatives -a lack of Teleportation Locomotion, a must have for a game i will be playing for hours at a time. -no real NPC to talk too -no clear transportation other then walking and fast travel -a mostly empty world
This could potentially be a very relaxing and addictive game depending on how development proceeds. There's not much to do right now so I only recommend it if you want to make an investment into a rather promising Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon style game. I don't have a lot of time played because I just checked out the basic mechanics and they're a solid enough foundation but that's about it at present. You might decide to spend more time in it than I did, but I'm going to wait for more features before really diving in. The Devs have done a great job crafting the world, and it could be a great place to spend time once there's more to interact with.
I'm giving this a cautious recommendation. It has a ton of potential. The basics are there and well implemented, it's already fun building up your farm and exploring the world (even though there isn't that much to it). At this point it's far from a complete game though. As with all early access titles, especially more obscure VR games, there is a risk of abandonment, but it's also relatively cheap.
Watering can disappeared when sleeping, so I checked if someone else had the issue, and I found a post from 2+ years ago that showed the same issue. This and the lack of updates at all the last year indicates that its more abandon ware.
allt
Appears to have been abandoned, i was really looking forward to this
