🏆 Winner – Best Deckbuilder
TooManyGames Indie Showcase 2026

Monster Tavern is a roguelike deckbuilder where you run a dangerous monster bar, serving creatures fresh off a day of harassing heroes and wreaking havoc. When night falls weary monsters crowd into the tavern looking to drink, gripe, and unwind. Serve them drinks and get them out before they mess your place up.

Beneath its charming art style lies a challenging deckbuilder. Draft new cards between shifts, collect powerful trinkets, and build a deck capable of handling everything from thirsty goblins to towering monstrosities.

Replayability is at the heart of Monster Tavern. Every run is an opportunity to discover new combinations of Drinks, Actions, and trinkets. Complete goals to unlock new starting trinkets that change how each run unfolds. Once you've mastered the base game, each bar offers four Difficulty Mugs that increase the challenge by enhancing monster stats and introducing new behaviors.
We're actively updating Monster Tavern throughout Early Access. The game currently features two bartenders, each with their own unique pool of cards to draft, and one fully playable bar. A second bar is already in development and coming soon, bringing new monsters, cards, and challenges while nearly doubling the game's content.

Fun, original deckbuilder with charming art and sounds. Looking forward to the full release!
Solid game. Takes me back to when Hearthstone was accessible and fun and not a DLC-required mess which is my favorite thing about it. Knowing it's in early access tells me it's only going to get bigger and better. It's just FUN to play, I don't know what matters more.
Monster Tavern is an absolute delight. The mix of tavern management, charming monster guests, and light RPG elements creates a relaxing yet addictive gameplay loop that kept me hooked for hours. The art style and music give the whole experience a warm, inviting atmosphere. What really impressed me is how well the game runs on the Steam Deck. Smooth performance, great battery life, and no settings tweaking needed. Even better: the touchscreen controls work flawlessly, making it super comfortable to play in handheld mode. It feels like the game was made with the Deck in mind.
If you are into deck-builder games with massive servings of charm, check out Monster Tavern. You'll serve drinks and get your ass beat by the patron's of the tavern. St. Jugula be praised!
Definitely for fans of games like Slay the Spire though I'm happy to say it has its own charm and strategies based on where you place the drink on the bar. The artwork is charming; love the anthropomorphic design of all the enemies. Overall an awesome game for a solo dev project. Also, dev takes feedback well and updates consistently--which is always nice.
I really enjoy the combat in this game. Definetely has a unique feel about when playing. I do reccomend for people to give it a go that enjoy deckbuilders.
This is an early look at what I believe is going to be an excellent rogueish card collecting strategy game. It's charming, fun, has a lot of card interactions already along with a good variety of enemies and challenges just in the first few runs. Every run has many randomized elements, so you see very different interactions and nuances each playthrough but there's always strategies and working parts there to keep it from being too RNG reliant. Am excited to see just where this game goes.
Fun, original deck builder with charming art and sounds. Looking forward to the full release!
Lots of cards with more coming out, lots of ways to build and interact with trinkets. Try not to get plowed by the Rat King.
Game good. You Play. You Like. Why am I being forced to say something just to give a thumbs up?
