REVIEW ON VALVE INDEX Fun, great value VR shooter game that's charming with similar Unreal assets from "Legend of Luca" and "VR dungeon knight" however they are more customized to be more unique. I do like the variety they give you on how to play the game with spells, range weapons and melee. The music is upbeat and fun and doesn't get boring fast. There are a few other options that are under construction since this is an early-access. The controls for the Valve Index are not perfect to match the instructions in game so don't expect perfect functionality as the developer may address them, hopefully soon. I will update my review and place a video on my VR channel soon. Happy Gaming. A review was created on my YouTube channel: Tales form the VR. https://youtu.be/_nE-VErZz_U

This game has a great premise. It's basically Black Ops zombies, but solo only. Sadly though, it is quite bad and I will explain why. For context, I have not played this game that much, I only unlocked the first map and did not get enough points to unlock even a single perk due to how slow the grind is. First, the good parts. The guns look great and the reload animations look fine. The graphics are also not bad, I know this game is a couple years old, but for the time and for VR, they are good enough. There is a perk system, allowing players to become more powerful the more they play, allowing them to go further than before. There are also quite a few levels. Not many, but enough to keep you entertained for quite a while. The levels also have barriers where you need to spend points to unlock more of the level, like in COD, which I really like. It makes every purchase a strategic choice on whether you need ammo, powerups, or more level to walk through or explore. The aforementioned powerups come in the form of really expensive donuts, which do not tell you what they do aside from the name. In some levels (at least the second one), you first need to enable the power before being able to buy the donuts. Fair enough. Oh and there is a huge Corgi who spawns hearts when you pet them. Now onto the bad parts in my opinion. The enemies are extremely repetitive and honestly, quite ugly. They early ones all look the same, are really tall and just boring if you ask me. I am not scared of those things, they are just annoying, due their huge size, cause they can hit you quite easily. Talking about the enemies, they overwhelm you extremely quickly. There are way too many of them and they spawn way too quick, for the small areas you are given in each map. The enemies also do not care where you are when they spawn, so if there is a spawn right below you, you better move. This is what makes the spawning system so darn awful, you cannot hide, you just gotta keep running, and that is not always possible due to the map size and amount of enemies. Having smaller maps is fine, but then don't make enemies so huge and spawn so many of them that it is overwhelming, and, in my opinion, enemies should not be able to spawn under the player and when they spawn near the player, it should spawn occasionally, to keep the player on their toes, but not keep them from reaching where they want to go. And the maps, I don't know what they did, but they take an eternity to load. I have the game on my SSD and still it just takes like over a minute to load. Now, waiting a minute does not sound so bad in itself, but imagine standing there, in your room, with a black screen in front of your face doing nothing. That's why it sucks. The perk system is next, it is awful. Perhaps it is due to me being bad at the game, perhaps it is the things I have issues with that I mentioned earlier such as the enemies and spawning, perhaps both, but the grind takes forever. You need 1K gems for the tier 1 upgrade of any perk and I think there were like 6-8 perks. After that you need 2.5K and then 4K if I remember correctly. After like 3-4 games, I got not enough for even a single perk, basically forcing me to play the maps I do not like due to their small size and die on early rounds due to (in my opinion) bad gamedesign. It is about as fun as it sounds. This one might not be an issue for everyone, but reloading is awful. I am playing on a Rift S and in order for me to reload, I have to fully push in the grip buttons, but sometimes it just does not recognize that I am pushing it and just does not reload. Aside from that, I really think this game could've benefited from having a multiplayer mode, but even then, what is the point when the core gameplay loop is this bad? I think there is hope for this game if they ever decide to make a sequel, but this game, no thanks.
Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. Initially I've gave it a negative review but after several patches the game changed so much that my review became irrelevant. So I've completely redone it and changed to positive. Combat was improved significantly by addition of dash and changes to gunplay. Now it's frantic old-school circle strafing fun, especially in the Arena mode. All weapons are projectile based with satisfying recoil and controller feedback. But the accuracy stat on guns is a bit weird: it applies not only to bursts but also to single shots. Overall with all the improvements Monster Reapers VR is now solid VR shooter: it's still a bit repetitive but the combat is quite enjoyable and makes it worth playing for a few hours. The game is entirely playable on Reverb G2.
Forgot I playtested this lol
IT IS SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BAD YOU CANT EVEN PLAY ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR THE ZOMBIE MODE WORST OF ALL I STILL PERFER THE OLD VERSIONS MORE DUNGEON CRAWLER FEEL
Game is buggy and feels incomplete! You dont have sound if you dont click with your mouse on the game-screen after launching it in vr. And the whole gameflow just feels...incomplete because there is not really any guidance ... you just get thrown in and here you go. Also gameplay does feel alot worse than i would have thought from watching videos. Not recommended.
