Monster Loves You Too!

Thanks to largely being desensitized by TVTropes, I hardly ever cry at fiction. The last time I genuinely sobbed at a game was back in 2012, but MAN did this game come close to hitting that level. There were SO many instances where I was filled with anxiety and wondering if I'd get a satisfying outcome or should just reset. Fair warning: This game in fullscreen for some reason totally murdered my PC's GPU and Power usages until I used NVidia Control Panel to set it to performance settings. Not sure if this is a common thing but you'd best do the same unless you like hearing "coil whine" all the time.

I love this game! It's much more detailed than the first one, but if you haven’t played the original, you won’t be missing out on anything. It's a super fun story driven game with tons of choices, and I’d highly recommend it. I’ve played a lot of games on Steam, but this is the only one I’ve ever felt compelled to review because of its incredible art style, storytelling, and the fact that so many people are probably missing out on this gem!!!

Such a wonderful "choices matter" game. It breaks my heart it never got much attention, but really, the art style is so, so charming, the dialogue is funny, the characters all feel unique and fleshed out, the world building is fantastic, and I never felt overly punished for the decisions I was making. Recommended to me by a friend, and one play through was about 10 hours. Not a bad price for a story that managed to jerk on my heart strings more than once! The only issue I had was that there were two sprites without transparent backgrounds. Other than that, the story felt immersive. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer! 9/10.

I played this game from start to finish without stopping. The charming art style, wonderful narrative, and well-defined characters with unique personalities kept me engaged throughout. As someone else mentioned, this game is even better than the first. If you enjoy playing role-playing games and/or visual novels, I highly recommend giving it a try!

A wonderful and woefully underrated game. I played the first game as a child and loved it, and the sequel is a completely different, complex, and wonderful journey. Love the characters, sweet, interesting story with cool world building. Please give this game a try if you have any fond memories of the first game or just stumbled on this page.

If you enjoyed the first game but thought "you know what'd be great? if this was a post-apocalyptic Buddhist morality story instead" then you'll probably love this game. While the storyline isn't as free form/sandbox as the last game and actually follows a linear "narrative" this time, choices still somehow manage to be more impactful than the first game. I also like games where they allow you to still claw and cling to life to endure no matter how, cause that's a mood to my unquenchable will to survive.

I got high on bugs, ate my friends arm, and beat the odds. I love it. And I really mean it. I love this game. I cried so many times at so many parts. I remember playing Monster Loves You! a long time age. I loved it. This game is different, but not in a bad way. In fact, i think its better. This game was able to tell a more meaningful story than the first, even if it has less endings and less branching pathways. When I first saw the place where my little monsterling would grow up, I realized that this would be different. Something had changed in this world. And I'm glad it did, in the end. This game tells a story that I think I'll be thinking about for a long time. I fell in love with friends who every time I was torn away from, I felt heart broken. Every time I had to act against them, I was saddened. But I never gave up. Sometimes, I didn't have the resources to stop myself from being mean, but that's fine. I think it helped my character and their friends grow in the end. I'll never forget Wruck, Gorry, Lindiddi, Ransid. My coterie. It is a crime that this game doesn't have more players.

as someone who loved the original monster loves you, this game is a faithful successor to what was already a gem of a game, that builds on the charming style, interesting mechanics and unique storytelling in ways that absolutely blew my already high expectations out of the water. if you liked the original, or just feel like exploring a beautifully written story with a unique blend of resource management and visual novel mechanics, and a rich and immersive world that has surprises around every slimy monstrous corner, i cannot recommend this game enough.
