Monster Harvest is a fascinating union of creature collection and farming simulation. I played longer than is really needed, because I did some truly suboptimal things early on, yet wanted to experience all the content. I enjoyed playing. I suspect for many, however, it could prove a disappointment. The creature battles are simple, arguably to a fault. The farming, mining, and even fishing are all fun and relaxing; they're exactly what you might expect if you've played similar titles. The similarities to Stardew Valley, specifically, are inescapable. The way trees and their stumps are separated, the needless distance between your home and the mine, the house upgrade unlocking the ability to cook, there are "bundles" to complete which grant benefits, just to name a few -- any mentions of the other farming sim are more than merited. Monster Harvest, to contrast, is much less about developing relationships with the townsfolk and much more about mutating crops with various slimes. Red slime can be used to generate creatures for battle. Blue slime will transform a mature crop into livestock, or a mount, provided you've built the corresponding barn or stable. Green slime seems to usually make crops that will endure after their first harvest or, more rarely, may transform that plant into a tree. Monster Harvest has some quality of life features that make it an exceptionally relaxed, casual experience. Players don't lose stamina if they use a tool in a place where it has no effect, such as when one misclicks or hastily swaps to the wrong tool. You can't use a tool unless you have enough stamina, instead of "passing out" or acquiring some debuff for overexerting. Time does not pass unless the player permits it. In fact, time is separated into day and evening halves. Shops are open during the day and closed during the evening; no more racing against the clock to do errands before shops close. The evening half can be skipped, but a certain amount of stamina will be restored for choosing "evening" when going to bed, as if you had a nap. There also seemed to be no penalty, such as lost items or funds, for failing in battle. These changes respect the player's time and efforts, allowing players to both progress at their own pace and worry less about precise inputs, especially when low on stamina.
5/10 - This is one of those games you'd give a neutral rating if possible :b Good for achievement hunters who like collector games. Can easily get all achievements in 10-20 hours, depending on how much you want to enjoy the game. All the creatures are cute and fun to collect, the dungeons and farming mechanics are decent, but the townspeople feel shallow and the grind to the end is unbelievably slow and boring.
Mal gucken was nocht so kommt :'D
🔰 Einstieg
🔄 Grind
Farming + Ressourcen sammeln = klar, Grind gehört dazu.
📝 In Aller Kürze

🌱 Farming + Monster-Crafting Idee

🐢 eher clunky Gameplay

😴 wenig Herausforderung

🐞 technische Schwächen

🎨 süßer Pixelstil

🎁Verschenktes Potenzial

I'm a confused as you are. At first glance this seems like a great idea. Your first 20 minutes into the game you'll find yourself thinking: was this originally a mobile game?? 2nd glance you think, huh seems like a lot of simple problems that could have been patched out by now (not glitches, QOL stuff). Anyway, don't waste your time, even for a few bucks.
Nice idea with monster harvesting. So bad balance. And so boring grind.
3.5 stars. love it good game over all, but i just spent hours to re get my crops because it changed seasons but turns out they were dead. so a recommendation wold be if you put in an indicator that the crops are dead
This game, while the premise is interesting, is unfortunately a boring grind. It doesn't really play to its concept very well and falls flat.
This is a good Harvest Moon-Like if that is even a thing. Picked it up because it looked interesting and actually managed to be a good way for me to relax and pass some time. Posting this after 100% so worth playing if you dont have the time for a full on Harvest Moon / Stardew Valley / Fields of Mistria etc.
