I went into this completely blind and good god this was horrible writing. Within the first minute of the game character names are just thrown at youň or I should say just names are thrown at you because these are not characters, they are not even 1 dimensional, they are negative 100 dimensional somehow. The game has the weirdest pace where plot is just skipped through but random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game just spends a weirdly long time on. There is this weird feeling where the game's writing feels like a badly remembered summary told by someone who trying to remember a show they watched ten years ago, and they swear it was the best show ever but from what they babble on to you you cannot understand anything. I burst out laughing when within the first introduction of the morgue lady and secretary they are shown to fall in love with a music sting to go along with it... Who gives a ♥♥♥♥? Who even are these people? I had to quit on the next scene we were thrown more names without any context. Then I looked it up, turns out this was a licensed game from a tv show. That explains a lot but good god I thought such terrible adaptations were left in the 90s.

It's very casual, it's more a light visual novel, with some light hidden object elements, with costume collecting. Did i enjoy it though? Yes! The cases were intriguing and the story fantastic, as well as staying true to the character i'm familiar with of the show, they did a fantastic job, I'm only disappointed that there won't the 3rd episode to finish off the bigger story. I would hope the Devs consider doing a kickstarter to make that happen.
Essie Davis is a stone cold fox in the TV version, but the visual novel format is a bit slow to maintain my interest.
suuper nice game and tv series. great fun and nice graphics.
Classical who-done-it. Love the whole approach to this game, the idea's, and the era. Great time and very similar to Murder In The Alps. Full of suspense, with twists and turns around every corner. The changing of the clothes reminds me a lot of Mata Hari game. Good locations and scenery. Interesting story lines.
Honestly one of the best games I've played. I'm a huge story-rich nerd so this game gave me a pretty fun time. Although I have not read any of the novels, the TV series was one of my favorites to watch so the existence of this game gave me a huge serotonin boost. It's a point & click game so it's not very time sensitive; all of you who are anxiety prone can relax with this one. I'm definitely looking forward to future episodes if they ever add more!
I really enjoyed this game! It's very atmospheric, with wonderful soundtracks and illustrations. I kinda see how it's not for everyone since there is not so much active murder-solving. I felt more like a viewer than a player, but it didn't bother me at all because I was invested in the story. It's sad there will be no part 3, but I'm excited to watch the series now!
Good for fans of the series.
Nice game, but there are some point, which disappointed me... But first things first: Let's start with the points, what I liked playing this game: - I have never heard about this TV series, but got curious about it. I will take a look on YT cause I want to get a link to the game. - I love the gameplay in episode 1 as in episode 2 as well: + Nice pictures (the "drawing" of the figures is nicely done), + nice art work and everything looks flawless, + nice music in the background, + nice menu, + I love the little autoplay scenes and the discussions (the most of it, cause there is quite a lot of dialog in the game!), + the story telling is very well done (I got really curious about who was the murderer - and no, it was this time not the gardener or butler!), + nicely made switch from episode 1 to the next episode 2, + the characters were well introduced, + as well as the places and + also the items/situations, where you conduct your clues (deduce). - I am not so much into dressing up, but it was fun to find the clothes. - The mini games where very fun! Overall it was a well done game, which made fun to play it - the most of the time. Disadvantages/What I didn't like: - Without knowing the TV series you do not know how to play the charakter "properly". So will probably miss some opportunities for "getting the game points", cause you are answering as you think and acting maybe differently to the character as it should be. - No possibility to go back after one chance was not taken. Sometimes it is still there, but sometimes it is also gone. Forever. For this time playing the game. That's realy anoying. I restarted episode 1 three times in a row to get this "right" in an important scenario. And had to start every time on the same beginning... - Missing "reset game button" or "undo last step button", but that is only the half truth. There is a "reset game button" => When you are only in the game in one of the episodes (1 or 2), you can go to ***** Option (left top corner) > Save/Load > Reset Game. ***** But this is only possible, if you are in one of these episodes! Not when you start the game and searching in the options, maybe cause weren't playing this game a long time and want a fresh new start. I had to search in the steam forum for the solution. Making an "undo" would be very nice and may be with an extra button in the game. - Need also some other languages. This would be really nice to switch language into other mainly spoken languages. - What is about the 3rd and other series? Missing a follow up game ;-) - Some places has too loud music in the background (I am used to use headphones, my gosh, what a difference between the theatre and other places...). Thanksfully my earplugs has a volume button on it, but this was a bit annoying to tap several volume steps up or down, depending on the scene. It cost me a lot of time during the game, cause I have to tip 3 times on my headset for a single volume step. - I was dissapointed to see that ep. 1 and ep. 2 are different in playing. There are in ep. 2 more single answers out of a bunch of possibilities but then the answers are gone. Forever. (Mentioned above already). Also if yu enter a new place it can switch if you will find the next time a part of the wardrobe there. How stupid. I don't wanna get several times through all possible objects! (ATTENTION: SPOILER ALERT!!! Please do not continue reading this bullet point till the end, if you wanna play the next sentence... please really... do not!... on the beach I found after several explorations and investigations in the same scenery suddenly in the sand a piece. Why? This was really surprising and not in a good way. It felt bad for me, cause I thought "Oh no, please do not let me have to do this for every time I am changing the scenery (place). How awful, cause it is so... boring!" In summary a nice game for some sweet moments on a rainy day. But it has also some weaknesses. But: I can recommend this game.
