Clever games curator review: 6.5/10. A fairly spartan laser-and-mirrors puzzle game with a casual difficulty level. You’ve almost certainly seen something like this before. Mirrors can be pointed in one of two directions and laser light must be guided to a specific destination. The only elaboration is that some grid positions are blocked from having a mirror, or only allow a single orientation. Every level has two goals: getting the laser light to its required destination, and (optionally) doing so with the minimum number of mirrors. The first goal is fairly easy even all the way to the last level, though not trivial. Usually you just make all of the obvious reflections, and then see how this breaks down and make a few more tweaks to get the desired result. 1-3 minutes per puzzle is typical. Achieving the minimum number of mirrors is a good bit harder, but feels overly fiddly to me and is not motivating enough to be worth achieving consistently. Meanwhile the game’s presentation is the absolute minimum for a playable game. You can judge this for yourself from the screenshots, but know that also the audio is equally bare-bones. Given that it’s an abstract logic puzzler, I’m not going to ding it too hard for having an abstract bare-bones appearance. But it certainly could have delivered more here. I also really would have liked it if it had supported touch screens. Currently, it is mouse-only. I feel like this is a somewhat low-effort outing. For instance, it doesn't even congratulate you for finishing the final puzzle, it just dims out the next puzzle button. BUT: I will say that I got three enjoyable hours out of it. Probably it helps that I had not played a game of a similar type in a long while. Use your own judgment as to whether or not it’s worth the price to you.
Guide colored lasers to their matching targets by rotating mirrors on a grid, unlocking puzzles as you progress through 100 levels, with optional challenges to use the fewest mirrors. This puzzle game revolves around colored lasers that must be directed to hit their corresponding targets. You achieve this by rotating mirrors to reflect and guide the laser beams. Once all targets are successfully hit, you unlock the next puzzle and gradually progress toward the final challenge. The puzzles are displayed on a honeycomb-style grid, where you can freely choose any puzzle within the same row to play. Completing all puzzles in a row unlocks the next row, which contains one additional puzzle. The number of puzzles increases until you reach the center of the honeycomb, after which each subsequent row has one fewer puzzle. In total, there are 100 puzzles to solve. You have complete freedom to decide how many mirrors to use, as they can be placed anywhere on the grid. However, as you move upward through the honeycomb, the grid changes slightly, limiting your options. Instead of mirrors that can be rotated in two directions, some can only be oriented in one direction. While you can solve puzzles using as many mirrors as you like, you’ll earn a green rating on a level if you complete it using the minimum or an optimal number of mirrors. Difficulty is fair because you can find a solution on you own fairly quickly, but optimal solutions will take more effort.
This is really a fun rewarding game. Teaches some good lessons about problem solving approaches.
Extremely low tech (production value? what production value?), but pretty decent level design.
good
great game, finding the optimal solution for every level takes a bit of time, but still fun
This is at least refreshing and new
