Mirror's Edge Review in April 2026: Proof That Great Games Don't Age & A Frutiger Aero Dream That Won't Quit! If you do not want to read the whole review, here is my short review below marked with * : ** NOTE: This review is based on the story mode alone. I have not played the race course or any DLC because EA shut the online servers on January 19th, 2023. Overall: This game is a must-buy during a Winter Sale. Sure, it does not have all the features, because the online servers are gone. Mirror's Edge is all about the visuals, the atmosphere and a breathtaking plot. It is baffling this has not been remastered into a VR game. Trust me, this game is still worth playing in 2026. Buy it for the aesthetic, stay for the plot ** If you want to read the whole review and my experience with the game, please continue: Before playing Mirror’s Edge: I came across this game a few months ago. I had heard of Mirror's Edge before, but I never played it when it first came out. So I decided to buy it in the Winter sale and started playing at the beginning of January 10th, 2026. Why did I buy it? There is a graphic design aesthetic called Frutiger Aero that was trending on TikTok and the game style is widely considered by fans to be prime examples of the Frutiger Aero aesthetic. After viewing this trend, it felt like I had rediscovered a hidden game, one I never played but wished I had. Without a doubt, I bought it because I wanted something new. Lately I have been playing old games that I never got the chance to try. First impressions: At the start, this game was really hard. Parkour is way out of my comfort zone. I will admit that I was annoyed easily. But the visual aesthetic, the landscapes and the music helped me to ignore the frustrating bits. I am probably just bad at parkour. Midway through the game: I was properly invested. The story, the plot, the characters, everything. I had to research more about the plot to understand what was going on. That's a clear sign I was engaged. Not many games do that these days. After playing the game: WOW! WOW! WOW! It amazes me how well this game still holds up, considering it came out on November 11th, 2008, on consoles and January 13th, 2009, on PC. Plot twists. Character development. Honestly, stunningly spectacular. When the credits rolled, the final song (Still Alive by Lisa Miskovsky) was an emotional and perfect finishing touch. I have been listening to this song too many times. I will be honest to say that I actually sat there and applauded, which is not something I usually do a lot. It just goes to show that if you give something a chance, you will be surprised. Buy it for the aesthetic, stay for the plot
I can't play the game because the screen goes completely white, after you've done the training part of the first part of the story it goes white. and nothing changes after that so I can't recommend this game.
oh man... i miss this era, games suck now lol
Beautiful game. You have to edit an ini file to unlock framerate (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=125812481) but besides that, this game is awesome.
Refreshing, give it a try. Keep PhysX off.
this is where we are gonna end up if we don't get rid of the current economic system we got going right now
muy bueno
you do unfortunately have to download flawless widescreen to play this in 21:9. you will also want to skip all the cutscenes because they're really embarrassing. pretty fun though
Soooooo much potential wasted ..... the kernel of goodness is there, but the devs just had no clue how to make a game enjoyable. The first thing you have to do is turn the combat music OFF if you want to preserve your sanity. Playing this game with a PS5 controller was an exercise in frustration, and balance was impossible. Keyboard and mouse was much better and some parts of the game were enjoyable, but not worth playing through the issues. If this game just concentrated on what it did best (the parkour) it could have been playable and even a good game. If it actually embraced being a shooter, it could have been good. The devs should have chose parkour and stealth as that fits far better with the concept of the game. But really the game is just a masochistic fall to your death and police massacre simulator. The combat is really bad IMO, and the game would have been way better without it. After 5 hours I was sooooooooooo tired of being shot at, and being helpless, and at the same time trying to solve parkour puzzles. The Parkour was good and at times exhilarating .... but that was very spotty, and sometimes you would know the perfect move and even the key combination and still fall to your death 10 times trying to do that, but fortunately that wasn't common. The final straw for me was the pipe balance, which for my gaming mouse was erratic and unplayable ... when I got across them is was by luck. This is probably a problem with my mouse settings, but because of the rest of the game I couldn't be bothered troubleshooting. The plot is pretty much disposable, with huge set pieces that really served little purpose. I am going to try the time trials to see if they are more fun
