Mirklurk: Every Step Matters

I got wind of this game via Splattercat's video so I already had an idea of what I was in for. That meant that the pause between turns wasn't as much of an irritation for me that it was for others. The menus not remembering the spot I set for them was a little annoying but I can live with that. I do like the unique spin on battling so it has been worth it for the price. What you need to know is that the dark is DARK and trolls hit HARD. Focus some time building up caches for rainy days (which is all of them) and bug meat is life. Dreams of dry socks might be in your future..

Really fun despite its flaws.

Mirklurk is a challenging but fun survival game by a solo developer that is developing nicely. It's early days but what is there so far is already good fun. I play on Bazzite linux and have had zero issues.

Early game survival is harsh but adds to the fun of figuring things out, establishing a rhythm to your explorations to get the most out of every day is quite rewarding, the planning to venture deep into the map away from "safe zones" is a fun challenge. Micro managing of the backpack does become a little tedious at times but I probably just carry too many things and hoard lol. Thoroughly enjoy the combat as well. Love the health bars and weapons with their blocky style, and how some entities fight each other, very neat.

It's a really fun game with really interesting mechanics!! I love the sock slot on the equipment tab,it's so fundamental a hiking experience!!! It does however, rain too much in my opinion, it rains at least once or twice per day in the two saves I opened (easy and medium, but rain makes them hard and harder!). Other than that there's a lot of slow walking involved so it would be nicer if the story didn't send you back and forth to the fort all the time ? I do realize this is part of the main thing of the game though, but i thought it was worth mentioning. The art is really nice too, although i'd love some more contrast (I am old and have old eyes). All this said, 10/10 I really have been enjoying it, can't wait to see it finished!
