The conquistador, who has faced many trials in his life, decided to retire and become a hermit. Just lying in his solitary cave away from people. But it seems that fate itself throws new challenges at you even in such a simple matter.

Target Audience: Imaginative Players who like Visuals Summary: Honestly, I wish this game was a lot better then it was. Its visuals and world design is great, and is definitely the shining star of this experience. Sure, you've seen elements like it before, but the combination of the strange creatures and the good detailed artwork still will drive your imagination. The environmental storytelling does a good job of constructing something that will make you feel like a kid, daydreaming about going on adventures. Sadly, that's the bright spot. The actual point and click elements are below average, feeling either too much like the game points you too much to the solution, or way not enough. Rarely did I feel smart completing a section, mostly because frustration would usually set in. Logic at times can seem off, and the game's transition from mobile to PC doesn't do it any favors. Click hints that cycle as oppose to hihglight all things gets annoying, the lack of keybinds can be frustrating, and the game's all for nothing nature with its hint system makes it feel like you're being curated through it as opposed to you exploring. Look, the sad thing is, I want this game to sell well. I do, because I want to see more of the artwork and drawings. But from a strictly game standpoint: it fails to deliver, and there's so many games that do it better. Especially at 10 dollars: despite the game not being horrible. It's just, there's too many better ones out there. Video Reivew: : https://youtu.be/VbbnuvmxBnA Lists: Positives:

Imaginative visuals that make you want to see more of this strange, interesting world.
Can create a dystopian atmosphere that makes you want to explore.
Some good puzzles at times.
Negatives:

Puzzles don't give the satisifaction of completion: usually being too broad or too specific to really make you stress your brain cells.
Color scheme can start to lose detail especially with the pulled back angle at times, making you not notice interactables, or even understand what you're looking at.
Hint system being all or nothing is frustrating, want a poking in the right direction as opposed to an IKEA step by step guide.
Highlighting interactables is a chore and can even cause more confusion at times.
If you want more reviews/information regarding games I've reviewed, visit my curator. Puzzle game, graphic adventure, surreal, puzzles, hand drawn, 2D. PLOT THE protagonist whose name we do not know, is a Spanish soldier in search of tranquility and solitude. The memories of the great European ship where he traveled are still alive in his mind; together with his companions they disembarked on an apparently peaceful island suitable for easy conquest. But alas! they did not foresee that large alien creatures did not agree with their plans of forced conquest and immediately implemented a strong defense eliminating the entire squadron of soldiers. And so our protagonist remained on this island until he was reduced to a skeleton, he found comfort in resting in his little coffin in a secluded cave. But one bad day his coffin resurfaces on the surface and he is woken up by alien creatures curious about see this strange object, which unfortunately, after long years underground, breaks completely. The little conqueror decides to leave the cave in search of another coffin, because his only desire is to return to rest close to his adventure companions. But this research won't be easy: he will have to understand how to make alien technology work with his medieval culture, facing a long search for objects and solve puzzles. PLAYABILITY Hand-made graphics with a graphic style similar to the "Samorost" and "Machinarium" series, where here too we find the absence of dialogues, sometimes to understand what the protagonist thinks, visual animations are shown inside a speech bubble. The puzzles are based on collecting objects, sometimes combining them and using them in the right way, or operating machinery. If you get stuck in the plot, click on the star and it will show you where to go, if that's not enough there is an icon with a question mark who will show you through drawings what you have to do, but you have to earn it by passing a minigame. In each location there is a lock on the right side, when it is open it indicates that we have completed everything there is to do and there is no need to return. The soundtrack is very evocative and suitable, the music makes us perceive the sense of desolation of the environment and the loneliness of the protagonist. The adventure is not complete, it is the first part, in fact at the end it says that it continues in part 2, I completed the story in about 3 hours. There is a lack of a map with which you can click and travel quickly from one place to another. It is possible to zoom in to see more closely, this is very useful because sometimes there are small objects to collect and blend in with the ground. I recommend it even if it doesn't have a deep plot it's fun to play, let's hope we can continue in part 2 so we'll find out how it ends the story of the Conqueror! A bit divided on this review. The game itself is adorable, and I found it loads of fun BUT!!! I spent $10 on a game that is ONLY part 1? I thought I was purchasing a completed game, not the first act. $10 isn't going to make or break my life, but I don't just have that kind of money to throw around and it not sting (at least a little) when I find out I've been cheated... (To be honest, I'd have posted this as a positive review if the game was short, but complete)
Nice effort but it fails for trying to be too obscure. Pixel hunting at its most finest. Obscure and directionless to make it a longer game than it should be. Only for the most patient gamer. Also. I was of the understanding this was a complete game. It is not. Will not purchase further episodes.
The art style was my biggest draw to this game and it does deliver on that but it's really not fun to play. Some of the puzzles are unbelievably obtuse, and components to solve those puzzles can be almost impossible to see, even when using the hints. Only took 2.2 hours to finish Act 1, but most of that was spent either confused and annoyed at unintuitive puzzles or waiting for the conquistador to walk to a different area.
Score: 1/10 Game is not completable intuitively without a guide, or brute force trial and error. Interactions between items and triggerpoints are not clear whatsoever, rooms that have been given the "complete" sign can still contain necessary items for completion, and what is interactable is very difficult to parse visually without using the hint system. Additionally, the game ends without resolving the story or providing meaningful reward for reaching the end. Nice art, neat idea, not really a video game. Would be far better as a picture book.
Even though the graphics are great, the lack of intuitiveness because you don't know what the inventory items are. To get a useful hint, you have to play some stupid old-school game inside the main game to earn a hint. The things to do to keep going are just not obvious. I look at YouTube every few minutes because most of the stuff is not obvious.
It was okay, its kind of similar to the amanita design style of games. Pros - Nice artwork - Somewhat interesting mix of supernatural and scifi elements. - Fully playable with just mouse. - Auto-save - Built in help system (kind of) - Hotspot reveal tool (kind of) - Some interesting puzzle design. Cons - While there is a hotpot reveal button it only reveals the hot-spots one at a time and the highlight is too subtle. You can use the feature a bunch of times and still be missing hot-spots. Also in one case the game showed a hot-spot in an unusual location and when I clicked on it it actually interacted with a device further away. It had weirdly mirrored the hot-spot in another location. It disappeared when I exited and re-entered the scene. - The precision of the hot-spots was poor in places with overlaps on other interaction points. Sometimes the game will present an overlay on screen such as the contents of a cupboard or an up close view of a device and unfortunately sometimes the game will detect clicks behind the overlay instead of on the overlay itself. Sometimes this happens for the games own UI as well e.g. instead of clicking the menu button the character walks to where you clicked. - While the items in your inventory are explained, there is no information provided for a lot of the interaction points on screen so a lot of the time it is not obvious what you need to do. You will a lot of the time just end up trying everything. - Sometimes in order to solve certain puzzles a particular interaction point needs to be clicked several times. - The game ends unsatisfactorily without the main plot resolved. Apparently this is only part 1 of a potential series. - There are a few hot-spots in the game and clues that don't lead anywhere or do anything at all. I guess these were either things cut from the game or will be used in part 2. - While there is a help system its locked behind a silly mini-game. Also there is this on-screen lock indicator which is meant to unlock when you've solved the puzzle in the scene but I don't know what exactly it means since it can show unlocked when there are still things to work out. Overall its extremely rough around the edges and just about gets a recommendation mainly for the artwork. Get it on a big sale or you'll probably be disappointed.
This game makes it seem like it's a complete adventure and if it gets an update in the future to finish the game I will take this review down. As it is now, however, don't buy this game. The puzzles are infuriating at times, the hint system is unhelpful, and the story left for wanting. It's an amazing set up, and the "full version" should really be the demo. I waited till it was on a 50% off sale so it was only 5 USD. I would be enraged if I had payed full price. It's really cute and I wish there was more but as it stands it's just too lacking.
