I like what I have played of it, which is very little so far. Not sure why there are no reviews yet so here we are. Edit: After playing for a bit longer... The '' Puzzles'' in the game are pretty basic and rooms repeat pretty often. The trading between towns does not really matter as much. You can easily fill your inventory with whatever and make plenty of cash. Enemy levels and exp seem to make little sense. Snakes give 50 exp no matter level and some things give 30 or 25. Still recommend the game to anyone who wants a rather cheap time waster if you want to run around find collectibles and try to finish all of the dungeons for fun.
Super fun and engaging! The exploration and trading mechanics are really well done, and there’s always something new to discover. Loved every minute of it!
This game feels a lot like Quest for Camelot (1998), but not in a negative way. Think dungeon crawler mixed with simple economics, while also factoring in early Pokemon and Legend of Zelda dungeon puzzles. And a bit of The Oregon Trail (1985), hold the dysentery. The fetch quests are a little tedious (especially if you just sold what you need or previously killed 40 of the boars and you JUST GOT THE QUEST SO IT DOESNT COUNT) but the increased sale percentage after ranking up with each individual guild makes it worth it in the long run. At first it is a bit of a grind because it isn't exactly worth it to go across the map and sell monster parts or treasure at a +/- 50%, but after increasing the caravan size and your wallet, things get better. You get to the point where it becomes worth it to make full map runs and engage in free market capitalism - although it would be hilarious to crash the market with the sheer volume of items that I've sold at the first market rather than the one near the beach. TL;DR, reminds me of my youth with the volatility of the current day market.
When I first launched Mini Merchant I knew I was going to love this game. This cosy RPG exploration game feels super nostalgic with the gorgeous pixel art style and retro/whimsical soundtrack that reminds me a lot of Pokemon on the gameboy. The game has the perfect balance of challenging gameplay mechanics and the quiet thrill of exploring the world and collecting new items without any pressure. This is a must play for anyone who loves exploring and managing pixel perfect little worlds!
Great work Astrarium Games Ltd.! This game takes me back to playing games on the Atari as a little kid! Simple gameplay to sit down relax and take a break with a dare I say cozy game! I mean what's more cozy than a leisurely stroll through the wilderness fighting monsters, exploring dungeons, and collecting loot! I recommend you check this game out!
Honestly I appreciate the game the more I play it. At first I was concerned because the game thrusts you into the game with no context or handholding whatsoever. The game isn't particularly difficult yet, but it's charm comes from the desire to explore. When you discover new areas, you're left with figurines to collect, or new loot, or unlocking other characters based on footsteps. And the music in the game is wonderful. That combined with the retro inspired artstyle makes it quite rewarding to see every corner of the map. Because I don't really care for the complexities of the in game economy amongst traders, I trade and do small quests to increase my standing with guilds but I am more determined to discover the entire map of the game and the figurines with it. There might be some content I'm missing but it's fine. The game is more casual than hardcore in my eyes and I already know the game is going to be a huge time sink as a result. I'm excited to see how the studio supports the game and if they go more in depth with the lore or not. There's a lot of potential there and I've paid more for worse games!
The game is very smooth and easy to run. Recently played some light indie games and got shocked how unoptimized those games were making my PC's fans spin too fast. Glad to see Mini Merchant have designed in a great optimized way. The only thing I'd recommend is if there was an introduction or guideline once you start the game for the first time to explain your objectives, that'd be much better. It takes time to figure out what you're supposed to do. In any case, great job Astrarium Games.
No challenge at all. Walk around with fairly poor controls. Collect stuff sitting in the open. The puzzles consist of pressing a button right in front of the gate.
this game is definitely a cozy Steam Deck game that I can't wait to play more of. at first, I didn't know what to expect, but I was very pleased with the gameplay, although I have not figured out how to attack the enemies yet. I love how changing the map area, the music would change to a different section. I'm a huge fan of the art style, and I love the puzzles I've come across so far.. I can't wait to play more.
Cozy and nostalgic with a retro aesthetic, really nice to play in bed with laptop while it rains outside. I liked the changing music a lot as well as the hidden areas' variety. It took some time to figure out how to do what, but not long enough to be frustrating or anything.
