Fun short survival horror. Reloading each bullet at a time makes each encounter intense!
Pretty fun experience, great short story. the only downside in my opinion is that the AI is too easy sometimes and doesn't make situations that tense. I love the reload mechanic. Definitely worth a play if you want to play through a game in one sitting
Great game cant wait to see what they come out with next.
My friends like to torture me and buy me scary games and make me stream them because my screams are funny I guess. Of all the games they've made me play (there are quite a few), I think this one stands out. It's unique, and the guns don't subtract from the horror. You'll be lured into a sense of security, and then reminded how little you really are. And for an indie horror game, they actually feel really good to use! I think I got the bad ending and I'm too much of a ♥♥♥♥♥ to find out if there are others. The story beats are interesting, and compelling, told both through a mix of notes and events in the game. If you're looking for your next horror game, this is it. Worth the time. Good job devs!
Not too bad actually
Fun spooky game! Good luck tryin to do this game's unique reload in between multiple enemies 💀
The maze in the gift shop damn near brings this to a negative review, but the reload mechanic, general vibe, and fun I had exploring the layout of the hotel just barely claws it back up to positive. There were a couple bugs here and there like being soft-locked from enemy collision in the maze and having to reset twice, getting locked in the generator room after restarting it if the door was closed when I turned it on (also necessitating a checkpoint reset), and monsters being in the 'hunched over and hiding' position after killing them if you closed and opened the game. I quite liked the looping hallway bit, it felt very reminiscent of F.E.A.R. to me. Though it does make the tight pace of the game drag a bit once you realize all you have to do is sprint through the same hallway 2-3 times to hear a door open, do whatever's in the room, then repeat 4 times. It's very short, I put about 45 minutes into it on my Steam Deck and had to start over on my PC due to the lack of cloud saves, so it's a good 2 hours. You'll have to rebind quite a few of the controls to get it play properly on Deck too, as it defaults to a regular gamepad layout which doesn't work at all. But overall, I think it's a appropriate price for the gameplay, atmosphere, and good scares. Seeing as this is the first release from these devs, I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve!
Mindscorn is a tight, creepy indie horror gem. You play a disgraced journalist exploring the spooky “Royal Veil Hotel,” chasing a mystery after people vanished. It delivers real tension scarce bullets, scary creatures, and eerie atmosphere instead of cheap jump-scares. If you like horror that creeps under your skin and keeps you guessing, Mindscorn deserves your time.
Interesting reload mechanics and some really good moments. Me likey
