Mighty Goose is an Action Run 'n Gun where you play as the Mighty Goose on a mission to save the universe from the rule of the Void King!! The game consists of multiple linear stages filled with enemies trying to swarm you from each side of the screen, and you have just 1 job, Let Goose Run Loose!! You will meet NPCs during your journey will join you as a secondary assistance that can accompany you during your missions. Wide variety of skills that you can choose from to match your playstyle. There is a lovey inspiration which you will notice immediately if you're a big fan of the metal slug games, from the voice narration when you pick up weapons to gun mechanics and vehicles that you can ride and destroy your enemies. The music and OST is top notch, it got that synth metal and the amazing thing that it was composed by the same person who did the music for Moonrider and Blazing Chrome. The boss fights were fun and challenging only if you get overwhelmed, some of them went down quickly and some proved a challenge, but overall I loved every single one of them. This is recommended if you love metal slug games or Run 'n Gun genre in general. Overall Rating 10/10
Unfortunately, Mighty Goose is not up to par with the better options of action platformers here on Steam. Although it has somewhat charming pixel art, the presentation is a little rough. On many occasions, the screen ends up cluttered with enemies and glitchy visual effects, making it hard to read what's happening. The floaty jump doesn't feel good either, not meshing well with the character's fast, long-distance evasive dash (this gets highlighted during the few platforming sections). The game is short and easy enough though, so you don't get too frustrated about it. Anyways, I would skip this one.
Mighty Goose, developed by Blastmode and MP2 Games and published by PLAYISM, is a high-energy run-and-gun shooter that channels the spirit of classic arcade action while embracing a modern sense of fluidity and spectacle. It doesn’t try to reinvent the genre so much as refine and celebrate it, delivering a tightly focused experience built around fast reflexes, constant movement, and overwhelming firepower. At the center of it all is its unlikely hero—a heavily armed bounty-hunting goose—whose absurdity sets the tone for a game that never takes itself too seriously, even as it demands precision and skill from the player. The premise is intentionally straightforward. You step into the role of Mighty Goose, a legendary mercenary traveling across the galaxy to dismantle the forces of a tyrannical enemy. The story exists largely as a backdrop, providing just enough context to move from one explosive encounter to the next. Dialogue and narrative beats are kept minimal, allowing the pacing to remain uninterrupted. This approach works well for the type of experience the game is trying to deliver, keeping the focus squarely on action while letting its humor and visual style carry the personality. Gameplay is built around a familiar but highly polished loop. Players run, jump, and shoot through waves of enemies, navigating environments filled with hazards and projectiles. The controls are responsive and intuitive, making it easy to pick up while still offering enough nuance to reward mastery. Weapons are varied and impactful, ranging from rapid-fire guns to heavy explosives, each with limited ammunition that encourages players to think about when and how to use them. The constant need to balance aggression with survival creates a rhythm that keeps players engaged, as every encounter demands attention and quick decision-making. One of the standout mechanics is the transformation into a powered-up state often referred to as “Mighty Mode.” As players defeat enemies, a meter fills, and once activated, it temporarily enhances firepower and survivability, turning the tide of battle in dramatic fashion. These moments serve as bursts of intensity within already fast-paced combat, giving players a sense of dominance that contrasts with the usual struggle to stay alive. The inclusion of vehicles and mounted weapon systems adds further variety, allowing players to shift into more destructive roles for short periods and break up the standard flow of combat. Level design supports the game’s relentless pace, introducing new enemy types, environmental challenges, and boss encounters that test both reflexes and pattern recognition. Each stage builds on the last, gradually increasing complexity without straying far from the core formula. Boss fights, in particular, act as climactic moments, combining spectacle with mechanical challenge. However, the sheer volume of action can sometimes become overwhelming, with screens filled with enemies and projectiles that require constant awareness to navigate effectively. Visually, Mighty Goose stands out with its detailed pixel art and vibrant presentation. The environments are richly animated, and character designs are expressive, giving the game a strong identity that blends retro aesthetics with modern polish. Explosions, effects, and enemy animations all contribute to a sense of chaos that feels intentional rather than cluttered. The soundtrack complements this with energetic tracks that reinforce the intensity of the gameplay, helping maintain momentum throughout each level. Despite its strengths, the game’s focused design does come with limitations. The overall length is relatively short, with the main campaign capable of being completed in a few hours. While this aligns with its arcade-inspired structure, it may leave some players wanting a more extended experience. Additionally, while the game introduces new elements over time, the core gameplay loop remains largely unchanged. This consistency ensures a cohesive experience but can also lead to repetition, particularly for players who engage with it for longer sessions. Difficulty can also be a point of contention. The game can be demanding, especially in later stages where enemy density and attack patterns become more complex. While generally fair, the intensity of the action can lead to sudden deaths that feel more chaotic than strategic. For players who enjoy a challenge, this adds to the excitement and sense of accomplishment, but it may be less appealing to those looking for a more forgiving experience. Ultimately, Mighty Goose succeeds by delivering exactly what it sets out to do: a fast, stylish, and satisfying run-and-gun shooter that captures the essence of classic arcade gameplay while adding its own personality. It may not push the genre in new directions, but it executes its ideas with confidence and clarity, creating an experience that is consistently engaging from start to finish. For players who appreciate tight controls, explosive action, and a touch of humor, it offers a compact but memorable ride. Rating: 8/10
Come for the gameplay, stay for the music

After misunderstanding the scheduling for my exams, this game helped me kill a lot of time when playing on the Steam Deck. Also the gameplay is silly and chaotic, which is a real treat. Fantastic and flashy action with moderate difficulty.
So far this is a decent shooting side scroller game. It is like Metal slug but bit different. Positive: 1. Good art and animation, the shooting feels satisfying. 2. Good OST and SFX. OST are suitable with this game. 3. Joke and Story is alright. This actually could be expanded to be more detail and make it more interesting. Negative: 1. It is bit hard to see enemy bullets when too many debris flying around in middle of chaotic battle. 2. It is short. I beat normal world at 3.7 hours, and now still playing at harder world but same world. 3. I think dev aware this game is too short, but I wish the harder world is not the same like normal world, this is like a repetition and quite major for me. Dev should have made brand new and original world for the harder world. Neutral: I want that chicken with rifle guarding my armory, as battle companion. I will grade it 7.5 / 10. Recommend on sale.
he's a goose, and he's mighty. VERY MIGHTY! he doesn't need to speak, just make his foes eat lead. and that's all I needed! fun game. easy to play, good graphics, awesome love letter to metal slug. worth the experience. my only complains is that some things get annoying. chonky calling you all the time, it's possible to die when you defeat a boss and replay them, and the checkpoints are subtle so you don't know where you'll respawn.
