The creator openly admits that this is an enthusiastic rip off of The Exit 8. It is superficially almost the same game, with even some of the same anomalies, but this developer tried to be funny. Some of it works as humor and other moments are just kind of the dorky things I'd stick in a game if I could quickly code a parody of a very specific genre. I decided to 100% the game, but for that I should have read the achievements before even starting. It was annoying to go back and get a particular anomaly out of 80 possibilities to reappear just for one more achievement. For perspective, The Exit 8 took me less than 2 hours. To see every anomaly in this one was over twice as long, a couple of hundred runs through the hallway. But to then get the ones I needed for achievements, I had to speedrun the halls like 400 more times, which took over an hour of not really paying attention. At least a sign on the wall tracks how many runs you've made and how many anomalies you've identified. And until you identify all anomalies, you can turn on prioritizing new ones, just not new ones exclusively.
my first time trying an anomalies type game, and i dont get it. no matter how well i feel like i check absolutely everything. i still fail. first run i did i got to room 6 and then i failed. but that must have been entirely luck. unless it's super obvious then i don't notice it. i cant remember 10 different paintings, and spot a small difference. game is good, i am just bad
Good alternative to Exit8 for when you know all the anomalies in there.
Fun iteration on Platform 8. Adds some interesting and unique ideas. There are perhaps too many objects that never misbehave and thus are not worth looking at, and some of the stranger anomalies are difficult to comprehend. The one that locks both ends of the hall is completely unintuitive and I spent more time than I needed to messing with it. The jumpscares are very jumpscary, especially if you're a little inebriated.
I didn't play for very long. A lot like, The Exit - Liminal Anomaly Horror, so if that's your thing, you'll like this. I found it a bit irritating.
This is one of the more amusing and challenging anomaly games out there. The basic game is not very hard to complete, the challenge is getting 100% and I have to admit that I had to resort to using a walk through as some of the anomalies are extremely subtle. Funny humour, good jump scares, quirky and quite unique. I have not yet played the original Midnight Monitor game yet, but I probably will now. Well worth the time and money for any anomaly game fans.
