Midnight at the Celestial Palace: Part I

I didn't have high expectations for this game, but it surely didn't disappoint. Beat it in one sitting. Captivating story, great humor, nice late 90s-like graphics. I'm certainly buying next chapters.

This turned out to be a better adventure than i expected. It follows the now very familiar trope of a slob in the present day getting sucked into a fantasy world to become a reluctant hero, but instead of being grating the main character is surprisingly endearing. The graphics are great and there is lots of fun dialog that the actors deliver well. The puzzles aren't too difficult, and everything just feels really tight and well executed. The highlight for me was the two or three moments in the game where all the characters break into song. Although other adventure games have some great songs in them (Deponia, Kentucky Route Zero) this one mixes it up a little by letting you pick your own lines. It's a fun way to add a bit of interactivity and makes me wonder how an adventure that was 100% presented as a musical would work. I guess that would have cost way too much cash to make. As it is, just a light musical theater twist on the usual adventure game formula makes this a very enjoyable romp. I look forward to part two.

One of my favorite point 'n click adventure games! The music is beautiful, the puzzles appropriately intriguing, and the game play straightforward and fun!

"Мягкий" интереснй квест в старом стиле. Управление, атмосфера, графика и музыкальное сопровождение - всё в нём сделано мягко, дружелюбно и довольно весело. История напоминает традиционные сказочные мотивы. Она подойдёт как для старый пердунов (таких как я), которые играли ещё в Кирандию и Гоблинов и сейчас не прочь понастальгировать, и для молодых игроков, которых не пугает рисованая графика. Хорошая игра. Мне понравилась.

The first and only chapter in a now-cancelled series of comedic point&click adventure games. Isn't [i]episodic gaming[/i] just the best?

pros + hand drawn, cartoony and colourful background graphics and characters + diverse cast of wacky characters + there are a few catchy musical pieces well sung by the characters + great soundtrack + easy puzzles (if you don't want to challenge) + two playable characters + decent voice overs cons - game short and episodic. it s concluded with an cliffhanger - there are no steam achievements and cards - story childish and i think it appeals to more children This game combines old-style musical features with a classic puzzle adventure game. If you like this kind of thing, you will probably love this game too.

Habe es heute zu Ende gespielt, und es hat mir gut gefallen! Die Rätsel waren gut lösbar, die Geschichte entwickelt sich. Ich bin gespannt auf Teil 2!

Στα [-] • Η ιδέα γιά τήν κατά διαστήματα μετατροπή τού παιχνιδιού σέ θεατρικό musical! Μ' εξαίρεση τό τραγούδι μέ τούς πειρατές γιά τόν καφέ, όλα τά υπόλοιπα θά ήταν καλύτερα νά έλειπαν -- ειδικά τό πρώτο, μέ τήν μεγάλη διάρκεια καί πρίν καλά-καλά ξεκινήσει η ιστορία, μόνον αρνητικές εντυπώσεις μπορεί νά δημιουργήσει. • Ο περιορισμένος αριθμός αντικειμένων καί hot spots απλοποιεί τήν διαδικασία επίλυσης τών λιγοστών γρίφων. Αν δέν υπήρχαν καί κάποιοι μακροσκελείς διάλογοι, η διάρκειά του δέν θά ξεπερνούσε τίς 2 ώρες τό πολύ. • Η συγκριτικά υψηλή τιμή πώλησης τού επεισόδιου. Μπορεί τά 8 ευρώ ν' ακούγονται λίγα, αλλά άν τά πολλάπλασιάσει κανείς μ' έναν μίνιμουμ αριθμό επεισοδίων μέχρι νά ολοκληρωθεί ο Τίτλος (δηλαδή 3 μέ 4) βγαίνει μιά αξία 25-30 ευρώ πού δέν είναι καθόλου ευκαταφρόνητη γιά ένα μέτριου βεληνεκούς παιχνίδι καί πού σέ κάνει ν' απευθυνθείς γιά τήν ώρα σέ πιό οικονομικούς καί, εξίσου, άν όχι πιό σημαντικό, ολοκληρωμένους Τίτλους (η εποχή μας χαρακτηρίζεται κι όλας από τήν άφθονη καί καθημερινά ανανεούμενη προσφορά), αφήνοντας αυτόν εδώ γι' αργότερα, όταν θάχει πέσει κι η τιμη του. Η συνέχεια είναι γνωστή. Οι πωλήσεις δέν είναι ικανοποιητικές γιά τούς κατασκευαστές καί τό παιχνίδι δέν ολοκληρώνεται ποτέ...* Συνοψίζοντας • Μιά μάλλον θετική εκκίνηση πού αφήνει όμως πολλά ερωτηματικά γιά τήν συνέχεια καί τήν εξέλιξή της. wow :) this was such a nice game. I m sorry they won t be making the next in the series. Really hope they change their minds this was really nice. I liked everything, the story, the jokes, the funny allusions to various flaws of all the characters. the graphics, the puzzles, the songs everything :( now we'll never know how this ends :(, however I can say that this as a standalone game has a satisfying storyline of its own. I highly recommend it, for me it really had that monkey island feel but in a unique way.
