0.9 out of 10 Final review: Well it's finally arrived out of EA and my suspicion was right, it's still a shambles of a game. £9.99 is a joke, it still plays like a early access game, it's no better than before. The zombies stutter around unconvincingly like they're having fits and can get stuck in doorways or with other zombies. Hordes of zombies are just a bugged out mess on screen. And the zombie gorillas are just a waste of time, a lazy addition to the game that adds nothing and they look terrible. The preview and update videos have been cherry picked to make the game appear more competent than the real experience. The level design is bland, a few very small maps that lack any imagination. The game has no meaningful progression, wave after wave of badly animated rubbish followed by another. On top of it's list of fails, It's actually a boring game too. And the performance on my new 8700K, GTX 1080Ti is terrible. Over thousand dropped frames in a 15 minute session and a ton of reprojection without any supersampling. The visual quality doesn't warrant this in anyway, just amatuer programming. And the sound design is on the same level of incompetence. Why on earth does the pistol sound different each time you fire it? And still bugs, infact new bugs I didn't notice before. After swapping weapons my UZI turned into a teenitiny keyring sized UZI. Some weapons obscure the panel on your guns displaying your ammo count. And buying ammo for automatic weapons forces you to fire the guns during the few seconds it takes to purchase. Don't buy this claptrap it's horrible, get 'ZomDay' instead, it's what 'One of the Last' wants to be but this talentless developer has no ability to produce. I'm looking forward too uninstalling this trash right after this. Updated review for 10th sept 2017 game update: Some improvements; zombie animations and graphics have improved along with the blood splatter. But still fails to improve the overall gaming experience for me. There's no feeling of bullet or melee weapon impact on the zombies. The zombie graphics still remain bland and animations are still pretty bad as they jitter around. Uninteresting level design remains. I just can't find any redeeming features to make me come back to this. The game is just pretty bad, it's sliding scale of below average to poor across the elements that make up the game. The only thing preventing me uninstalling this game is in respect to the Dev who is posting comments and clearly still working on the game, where many developers would just disapear and the leave the game semi-complete. So I feel bad to say this but being brutally honest I'm not sure he has the ability to make this into anything much better than what it is. Old review: I have no idea how this game is getting positive reviews, it may be inspired by "COD Zombies" & "L4D", but I can tell you honestly it doesn't live up to them in any way and dishonest to name drop other games in order to seek attention, especially when when your own game so poor. The zombie graphics are a joke and poorly animated with floaty movement, the zombies move around detatched from the ground. If you can be bothered to stand more than 5 minutes you'll have the opportunity to battle more badly animated creatures in the form of gorillas with glowing green eyes. Yeah, a perfect fit for a zombie wave shooter! If you shoot a zombie and it falls to the ground, it doesn't fall over it instantly jump cuts to magically appear on the ground and starts crawling. Zombies crawl in the air to stand up. The guns feel totally limp (no animated gun recoil) and bullet impacts feel like tepid bb pellets, they completely lack punch. The blood animation shooting zombies is an unconvincing perfectly round puff of red that appears in the air in front of the zombie. The game audio is just as inspired as the rest of the game. So not very good. On the menu is a single generic zombie growl/shuffle plus weak/unrealistic gun shot sounds. The level design isn't interesting either. There is absolutely nothing to save this game, it even fails to reach heights of mediocrity. The game feels like it's developed by amateurs. Any positives... Well it runs well on my 1080 and the environmental graphics are okay (if you discount the apalling looking zombies). I'm a big fan of zombie games and shooters, this poorly designed game doesn't do either genre justice. This is a game about killing zombies but the fundamental elements; that being zombies and guns are simply badly represented in this game. This is just a very poor game and the £14.99 ticket price just adds further insult. Forget multiplayer, the lobby is empty. I've just spent a couple of hours in horde mode in Arizona Sunshine, that's zombie slaying done right, miles better than this trash. Please fix the game already. We only bought it (4 copies) because it was multiplayer. It has been several weeks since multiplayer was deactivated.
Alright, played ~10 rounds single player. Pros: Seems pretty well implemented. True to the whole 'COD zombie mode' as many have pointed out. Cons: Lag! with many zombies you easily feel the lag. (I have a pretty meaty machine) Sounds: There's NO joy from shooting the weapons.. super puny sound assets, these should be upgraded asap. Holster mechanic: I couldn't holster the machine guns etc, but i dont know if it should be possible. I got stuck at the big blue 'rock' thing in the open square and quit after round 10 because i couldn't figure out what to do. At round 10 i had ~20K $ and needed something more to happen.. perhaps if i could get past the blue thing. I can't really recommend it now until i see more progress. I will revise my review after next update.
terrible....just avoid. and refunded.
Wow, where do i start. This game is pretty bland and boring and is false advertised. it says it supports oculus but it really doesn't, all the guns point down because it thinks you're using vive wands when you're not. the game also goes ahead and gives you the controls for the vive wand, but not touches. But, that doesn't mean this game is good with vive, the game has terrible graphics and the controls suck. the gameplay is also bland. And if you decide to play multiplayer well you've got to make a decision, either blow your ears out with every gunshot and hear your friends clearly, or have a nice comfortable sound level and never be able to hear your friends. TLDR. this game is boring, painful to play, and doesn't work on oculus
Gameplay-Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FPDhOOsugo One of the Last ist ein Zombie-Schnetzel-Spiel für VR.
fun game just needs more players
Awesome game! A good taste of what COD zombies would be like in VR. Guns are kind of generic right now but I believe new guns, or at least gun upgrades, are in the games EA roadmap. Overall, I've been having a lot of fun with my roommate! As of this review, you get one large map with a good varitey of guns and perks to claim and one smaller map for a more fast paced experience. The mechanics are very classic arcade style mechanics with no manual reloading or two handed weapon handeling but I hear there could be plans to revisit this. Traditional movement, which is my prefered method, is supported as well as the motion sick proof teleportation system, so YAY FOR OPTIONS! You'll be helping the dev fine tune the game for a little while being that it's EA but It's currently got a lot of replay value as is so yea, get it! With a bit more polish and bug fixes it will be one I revisit every day.
Decent but I encountered several bugs in my short time of playing. I'm going to play more to get my money's worth.
Awesome game that has lots of gameplay to keep coming back for! Large, Progressive, unlockable maps give this game some freedom and exploration witch adds a good amount of depth. The Multi-Player really adds a good dynamic to the game. Good value for the content. Developers are also active in the community.
