Interesting traditional roguelike; but it doesn't fully explore its potential. The biggest problem, shared by many other roguelikes, is the initial part of the game not being rich and diverse enough to justify its roguelike run based structure. The sad thing is, the posession mechanic could actually be a part of the solution, if there was a wider variety of enemies and if only some were present in each run (turning the mechanic into a kind of draft). Instead there are few types of enemies and they are always present in a pre-set order throughout the dungeon. Therefore, the runs become extremely repetitive (and the item by itself system is not enough to prevent this). Recommended on sale if you want to try a creative take on traditional roguelikes.
Why is this so good? I'm super confused, nothing is explained well, but the game is actually pretty good

Nice roguelike, the body possession mechanic is fun ^^
I really enjoyed playing Midboss, though it was 3 years ago so I don't have very clear points to raise anymore. But it's a good game well worth your time, and developed by super dedicated indie developers, so definitely do give it a shot. I'll probably replay it myself at some point (it kept being improved after my last play session) and maybe update this review :) But in short: it's a traditional roguelike (permadeath, no metaprogression) where you get to play all the amazing monsters that you normally only kill or flee from in roguelikes. So instead of carefully choosing your "build" at the start and evolving it with the right skills and equipment, here you choose the monsters you want to possess and master, and this defines your abilities. It's a very refreshing concept and well executed, which makes for a ton of fun.
Traditionals should be fast. Controls are fubar. The cutesy stuff got to go. Stick with mechanics, that's core to traditionals, no one cares about what you think politically, no one cares about your humor. Traditionals are the last place I go for real gameplay without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But overwhelmingly, the controls ... dude?
hot demon boi (the game's good too)
just read thesheep's review but basically: if ur a newb at rogue games like me n they're not rlly ur thing prob don't get it - if u like the reincarnated as a slime anime like me this should really be ur jam which leaves me feeling mixed on top of the easy n tedious re-grind to power after every death until u get back to the harder part, the grind is just time consuming and ur deaths hardly make u stronger since it's a roguelike not lite
This game is ridiculously fun. It's so far exceeded my expectations, I'm a bit mad at myself for keeping it on my wishlist so long. The mechanics are unique and it's easy enough for a novice such as myself but deep enough for people maybe more experienced. I have played other rogue-likes and rogue-lites and enjoyed most of them. I judge each game on its own merits and this one has much to offer someone looking for a good time and gameplay elements that you don't often see. I could see maybe the design would lead to less replay value but not every game is meant to be played indefinitely. I'd say this is one of my favorite indies in a long time and i'm so happy I gave it a shot.
Un bel gioco originale e retrò, unica pecca ha un brutto bug che ogni tanto freezza il computer e corrompe il file di salvataggio quindi non so se è possibile finirlo
Just a another best game, i never think i would play main charector like manga/novel that eat skill form another mon lol. in really, veryfun~ thank ps. but i want more special unique effect item or can get item more than 1 form deadcard ;w; my green best set is too hard ,just say.
