Reviewing card games is what we do!
Metal March is a peculiar mix of light army management, exploration, chess like combat and some light card play. It has some neat ideas which I hope get developed more during its EA. To break it down:
Chess like combat
Every unit has a certain pattern in which it moves, but unlike chess (except pawns) it also has has separate patterns of attack. While in theory this opens up more tactical options, in practice it often felt clunky. It adds another aspect to track which was not particularly fun. Often I had my archer unit not be able to move into an attacking position even though the enemy is literally 2 squares away because of it's weird movement/attack patterns. I wish the movement was simplified or aligned with the attack pattern, but otherwise it plays like most tactical games where positioning is important and you need to plan ahead a bit. There are also attacks of opportunity and counter attacks.
Army management and exploration
Similar to some Heroes of Might&Magic games, you can stack your units, recruit different kinds of them and replace your killed off units with new ones. It's simple but it works, although I wished there were more enemy types available to recruit in the early game. This recruitment is usually done on the map, which is a semi-linear node map, where you can explore different branches usually fighting monsters and getting rewards. The biggest problem I have with the map is the amount of combat you need to do. You will fight non-challenging battles one after the other until you are strong enough to take on the area's main enemy. I wished there was a more curated selection of battles.
Card play
Definitely the lightest part of the game, the card play feels a bit underwhelming currently. While the spells themselves are fine (typical damage, debuff, buff stuff), you can use them once. On each of your units turns you will draw one card and get one mana. Once you are out of cards, there is no reshuffle. Currently the card aspect has much more of a supporting than a leading role, which is fine in itself, but be aware of this if you're expecting a deckbuilder + tactical battle hybrid, which I don't see as the main aspect because of the simple card play.
The positive
+ Cool concept and basic systems that have potential if expended on. + The animated lady is done well and adds a bit of life to the game.
The neutral
* The combat, card play and map are just fine. Wish there was more intricacies added to these systems to help them stand out from the card and be more engaging. * It can't be a bit hard to read info at a glance. Buffs and debuff icons can be quite small and generally the visuals are not very crisp. * Very strict movement and attack patterns can lead to some units not having much to do on their turn.
The negative
- Gets a bit repetitive. Open maps allow for more grind which is often the most optimal play, and nudges players to do themselves a disservice. Too many combats required to scale up, while offering the same level of challenge each time.
Conclusion:
As an EA game it has a good concept at its basis, but the systems don't feel very complex at the moment. Keeping an eye on this one as it develops, but currently it gets a Careful recommendation. Interesting concept, boring realization. Wait until the devs severely improve it or someone else does it better.

It is very interestng game, I enjoy the vibe very much. the thing is I don't understand how to make sure I have nough coin or enough power againts some enemies - when written similiar or I can get something out of it. I wish there was a manual that helps with the meaning of the numbers because I forget everything pretty fast.
It's Hero of might and magic/King's bounty but spells are drawn from a deck of cards and units move with chess jumps, no multiple heroes so defeat is game over, no integrated save/load. You can not launch the game if internet is offline? Indie Made with Unity = keep and play next winter for heating.
