an adventure platformer that will change the universe.
explore fields of warm grass and wildflowers. glide through the sky with your leaf. elude predating fauna, or make mischief instead.
Merp in Merpworld evokes the feeling of classic Gamegirl Color platformers, but includes modern niceties such as widescreen support, high refresh rate support, and a hi-def, heart-pumping soundtrack.

I am Merp and I think you all should play Merp in Merpworld. Good game.

Really good impressions after an hour of gameplay. I wasn’t expecting much more than a funny and chill platformer to kill time, but as the levels progress, it gets more challenging and the story also takes a more serious interesting turn. It’s more than just colourful pixel art and a charismatic main character,it also has great level design and well thought mechanics. I'm writing the review now so I can keep playing without rush, but at this point I see it impossible to disappoint. A short but very sweet little game with great level design, immaculate presentation, and just a little bit of tasteful edge to its cutesy exterior. The moment-to-moment gameplay is polished to a sheen, with a snappy and weighty player and intuitive puzzle design. I like to seek out every secret in platformers and after beating the game there's still quite a bit more for me to find. There's even a couple hardcore bonus levels after the story which are always appreciated! As for presentation, the only downside I see is a lack of variety in level themes, as the levels are all the same grassland at various types of day and weather. Otherwise though, the sound design is crisp and immensely satisfying, and the soundtrack is definitely the type you'll be enjoying for a while long after playing. The story was a little lore-heavy at points (got a little lost in the sauce with character names, backstory, locations etc) but it was engaging at its core, with a very unique final boss. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Just know what you're getting into with the review playtimes here and pick it up if that's your jam!
it feels good to jump and also to float. if you're good enough at the game you can see a
big snail
.
A short and sweet experience, the graphics are reminiscent of early handheld consoles, yet stay fresh and beautiful all throughout. I could see some enjoying more content, perhaps even a level editor, but to me, this package works quite well and puts a smile to my face. Deep down, we might all be Merps
This game is cool and good... The sprite work is sweet the world is charming and the level design is fun yet still challenging at times. or maybe i just suck at platformers who knows. big reccomend on this game.
you think its just a fun platformer but this game goes deep
i love how things interact in merpworld, it makes this tinybeautiful platformer feel almost like an immersive sim at times, magical balance of affordances and rules, delightfully chunky graphics and silky smooth music and audio. the leaf is genius.
Overpriced for what it is and not particularly compelling to me either. I put it down after a few levels. I can see from other user reviews that the game is about 2 hours long. It's a very basic 2D platformer with tiny stages. It should really be priced at $0-2 like the other cheap crappy games that its competing with (the entirety of itch io as well as Steam). If it was priced that way, I probably wouldn't have bothered leaving it a negative rec, but this just feels eggregious to me. If you want to pick up a 2D platformer that's actually good and cheap (or free), check out stuff like Environmental Station Alpha, Treasure Adventure Game, 8-Bit Boy, EldritchVania, Omnigon, 100 Pumpkins 2, Vvvvvv etc. ..I could go on listing 60+ more 2D platformer games that are similarly priced, cheaper or free that are far more impressive than Merp in Merpworld. Don't waste your time or money on this dull, generic shovelware.
