Men of War: Red Tide is one of the most underrated entries in the franchise. While it doesn't introduce revolutionary gameplay changes, it delivers one of the richest and most rewarding single-player campaigns in the entire series. Rather than revisiting the usual World War II battles, the game follows the legendary Soviet Naval Infantry—the Black Coats—through more than twenty missions spanning the Black Sea campaigns and the final offensives of the war. The historical setting feels fresh, and the sheer variety of objectives keeps the campaign engaging from beginning to end. The core Men of War formula is as brilliant as ever. Every soldier, vehicle, weapon, and shell matters, rewarding careful planning, smart resource management, and tactical improvisation. The series' signature Direct Control mechanic remains one of the best features ever introduced in a tactical RTS, allowing you to take manual control of any unit whenever precision matters most. The game also expands the battlefield with new units, amphibious operations, armored trains, naval support, and additional equipment, making many missions feel distinct despite the Soviet-only perspective. Its biggest drawback is the complete lack of multiplayer, and some missions can be brutally unforgiving. Still, if you're looking for an outstanding single-player tactical RTS, Red Tide is one of the finest games in the series and an easy recommendation for any Men of War fan. Pro tip: Hold CTRL to enter Direct Control mode. Knowing when to switch between RTS commands and Direct Control is the key to victory—and yes, don't hesitate to abuse it.
