This is a good music game but just have to deal with the accuracy.
Melatonin's namesake is ironic because everything about the experience will keep you awake, locked-in &/or annoyed.
The gameplay is intense & unforgiving, the rhythm is usually asynchronus, off-beat or heavily reliant on the art & graphical animation over audio . Gameplay comes in the form of Spacebar & Arrowkey inputs at the allocated point in the level, indicated by respective audio cues but mostly through animated characters & items, however audio/visual feedback for failure is a mixed bag. Overall there is little room for error due to tight input windows & sequential correct inputs being all-but required to gain the stars required to reach the next level. Melatonin dumps a lot of information on you from the get-go rather than feeding said information where applicable as you progress, although each level has a dedicated practice level available prior to a true attempt that explains the required actions & cues through a screen indicator. The true attempts remove the indicator from the experience & challenge your audio/visual timing & knowledge although with its removal I found the game to be unfun & frustrating as the audio levels, music, metronome & effects, at best are quite similar to each other or completely overpower each other at their worst. There is no dark mode and every level & menu consists of constant soft bright colors from a pastel palette. The graphics, artwork & animations are cute, fun & well crafted but the gameplay & levels are too dependent on their presence rather than audio & rhythm indicators which makes the game draining to play with constant white beaming at your face.
Conclusion
Overall I found Melatonin to be outright unfun without accessibility options enabled & too boring with them enabled & I recommend purchasing if you're interested when it drops to around $5-7AUD. I have requested a refund after attempting to play the game on 5 seperate occasions as I thought my mood may be a factor but alas.
整個畫面和音樂都放人非常放鬆舒適,音樂也都很好聽 個人覺得判定沒什麼問題,打起來很爽很舒壓

Really fun game! The music is nice, the artstyle is cute, and i love the pastel color palette! I could legit fall asleep to a majority of this game's soundtrack! Especially Past, bcs the first time i played melatonin, that was the dream i was looking forward to the most! Thank you sm for this game, Half Asleep Games! i'll be looking forward to new updates! :D
Ignore that almost all my achievements I got back in 2023 and only finished getting 'Go to Bed' in 2026. This game has definitely grown on me and now without trying to grind out every single level to be perfect, I can truly appreciate the excellent art and music that it has to offer. With the added accessibility options, I'd say this game is suitable for anyone that has any kind of interest in rhythm games. Some charts were hard for me to understand the goal, but using the accessibilty options helped clear it up to me before turning it off and playing it just as the base version. (Only because I am stubborn and want to beat it without any additional help, I think it's fine for people to use those options as needed/wanted. That's why the options are there right?) Great game, wanted to bash my face into my keyboard multiple times <3
不喜欢很快喜欢判断节奏的可以玩
Melatonin. What a name. You look at it and think: "Hmm. that sounds relaxing!" WRONG. THIS GAME MADE ME HAVE A PHSYCHOLOGICAL BREAK THE NIGHT BEFORE MY DRIVERS TEST. IF YOU ARE AN ACHIEVEMENT HUNTER, OH BOY ARE YOU IN FOR A RIDE. For casual players though, pretty good!
