mechcube: escape is one of those mobile escape room games I'd love to have more of on pc, with the quality at least matching this one. the game starts with some guys finding a huge, mysterious cube somewhere in russia. one of them immediately goes inside to check it out, as you do with potentially dangerous things of unknown origin, and sure enough, he doesn't come back. as everything on earth is going south, an organization called 'the fund' starts doing research on the cube, trying to unlock its secrets. then suddenly the guy from before appears as an old man and inevitably dies. keen on finding out what happened and how the cube could be used to make things better, the fund sends in a volunteer operative, who in turn is keen on spending all the money they'll throw at him after the mission. there are 17 rooms in the cube with all sorts of puzzles (maze, rotating, sliding, lights out, move in L-shape, colors, math, more math, even more math) and a pretty useful hint system that eventually shows you the solution as well, but sadly, not for every puzzle, so I still had to do the sliding and some other stuff I would've skipped otherwise. some of the puzzles are really obscure, such as room 8. that, or I'm just dumb or wasn't in the right mindset, so the hints came in handy. and while in a comedic adventure like deponia I didn't mind unconventional solutions (remember the audio thing in the second game?), I didn't appreciate it here. not gonna spoil it, but room 11, really? besides the puzzles, there are 15 items and 8 endings to find, all kept track of elegantly in-game, but good luck finding everything on your own. I really liked the presentation and appreciated the game dropping me back where I was after an ending, so I could continue in another direction instead of re-doing everything from the beginning. no volume settings or windowed mode though, only sound and music on/off for settings. it should take about 2-3 hours to complete if you're smart, which I'm not. I used the hint system and looked a few things up to keep things moving, otherwise it would've taken forever, but I enjoyed it overall. I like these kinda games and no musical puzzles was nice for a change, though I could've done with fewer math problems and other puzzle types I don't like. easily recommended for escape room fans, the price is not too bad either.
The game has potential, some of the puzzles are creative, logical and fun. But too many others just seem like a bunch of arbitrary patterns that you need to brute force, or aimlessly prod at without any direction. It gets boring quickly. Keypads have limited entertainment value. Also clicking around for active pixels is boring, it's a mind numbing brute force mechanic, even modern adventure games haven gotten rid of it, devs should really follow the same path. So, as is, and I realize this is early access but, I can't recommend this game.
Nice indie game, I have to play it here and on the mobile to find help on the riddles!
It's a game with puzzles to solve for unlocking doors. Also there are obvious and hidden items to find, which will unlock the last door. There are also some deadly endings to find. To find all endings and items, solving all puzzles and to get all achievements, seem the goal of this game. You need some crazy thinking or seeing things you would never care or think of. A lovely done "short" game, it has no real happy ending, instead it has 8 deadly endings, which are part of the gameplay though. The shortness of the game will be compensated by the difficulty finding and interpreting the right hints for solutions. The game was free2play while early access. Worked well on Linux, no bugs or crashes encountered or when switching between desktop and game.
Крайне занимательная и местами сложная головоломка, так еще и бесплатная.
One of those mobile escape room games that makes stuff so hard to find/understand that you need to watch adds to progress. But there is no ads on steam, so it only becomes annoying without even making money for the dev. Avoid
Замечательная игра. Головоломки совсем не очевидные, приходится подумать. Респект разработчикам
This game has real puzzles, not just trying to think about how to put things together like in many point and click games. Some SAT math questions, some fun logic games, puzzles that had me getting out a paper and pen to help me figure it out. I guess the biggest thing I don't like about it is that it give no indication that something opened or changed on the puzzle. Some might think that it is adding to the challenge, but for me it is just random clicking looking to see if something changed.
A good traditional puzzle game with numerous references to modern Sci-Fi & horror writers, as well as SCP project and a lot more. The puzzles themselves are tricky enough to lure you into cracking them. Most of them are randomized each start meaning you can enjoy the game more than once. Simple and nice.
