Nice little gruesome experience, very meaty and strangely cute at the same time. It's not a bad game, just has some technical and interaction issues. I know it's $2, but you guys have to learn how to do the point&click controls and feedback correctly before you release anything, I would rather tell you that so you can improve, instead of sugarcoating it and pretending like it felt good to play. Also my cursor kept going invisible, It seems it didn't happen to the other person playing, so maybe the game interacts with my system in a strange way, sometimes I would click around and the cursor would just vanish. The UI overall was kinda janky, sometimes the hotspots were too small or I had to fiddle around a bit to get something working. It's about 30 minutes, you find some not so trustworthy looking person that is locked in a room and she wants you to set her free. The art quality was not consistently great, but there were several good looking scenes with nice body horror. On a side note, I really like those doll videos, I wish more games did things like that. There are several puzzle but honestly they were very easy to solve, never really had to think, just backtrack 2 or 3 times and they would come together.
Pros:
(+) There were some decent looking panels and body horror in the game, although I didn't like some of the square rooms, I think the game looks better when you do those perspective drawings (+) Enjoyed the meat narrative and the settings, nice doll videos
Feedback:
Interface: - sometimes the cursor would go invisible after interactions - the hotspots were too small overall - don't make the cursor vanish if you hold the button, just make it flicker once like with 1 click - reduce loading between the screens if possible Presentation: - so it's okay to leave the font somewhat generic to make it easy to read, however you don't just want to keep it like regular letters, it really stands out against the sketches, it needs to look a bit like the game's art style. Some devs also surround text boxes with some art so it does not look like a generic box - if you add any kind of UI visual panels like "skip", make sure panels have the same art theme as the game, and not just basic panels, very immersion breaking. Just sketch a UI box that looks like the game - I don't mind you using unoriginal music, but I would recommend that you find something more unique next time, overall the sound and music choices could have been a little better Overall Thoughts: 5/10 There are similar games on steam that do really well, but they generally not as janky and a bit more consistent visually. You had some good panels there, but not every room looked great overall. I would say try to copy the timing and visual feedback of the point&click UI from other games, you really did not polish it, it feels like there were no revisions making it work, and it's just slapped together with no thought (the hotspots and feel/timing of the interactions)
Niche, obscure and underrated games: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/31294838-Hidden-Gem-Discovery/
I really enjoyed this game, especially the dark, oppressive atmosphere. I also enjoyed how it leans into environmental storytelling and exploration, letting you piece things together as you go. The hand-drawn visuals and overall style add to that unsettling feeling in a really effective way. It’s short, but it leaves an impact. A creepy, memorable experience that’s definitely worth playing.
Obrigado DEVS!
A really cool little horror game. The atmosphere is pretty scary, and the hand-drawn art style is nice. The videos with the dolls were my favorite part. It’s pretty short, and some of the interactions felt a little weird at times, but overall, I really liked this game.
This game has some excellent art and visuals, especially the doll scenes. I will agree with another review that I had a few interface problems but was able to complete the game in around 30 mins. I enjoyed this overall!
I really enjoyed this game! Meatlock is a beautifully hand drawn, point and click horror. It doesn’t have any in your face jumpscares but it does an excellent job at building tension. The only issue I had is my cursor disappeared a couple of times in the early part of the game. It can be worked around but it is a bit tedious. I am excited to see what the devs do next 🫶🏻 https://youtu.be/bDPWQvG3rME

The drawings create a really creepy atmosphere, I finished it in about 30 minutes. Nice little game.
