This is a visually stunning game that unfortunately lacks some finishing touches: - The controls aren't quite as obvious and I had to contact the developer for understanding how to switch from russian to english. The startup menu is controlled by WASD instead of mouse or arrows, which would be what one is used to from other games. Also the escape button doesn't do anything for me in-game. Might be a bug? - The above wouldn't be as critical if it wasn't for the english translation full of typo's to a level where it really takes one out of the atmosphere. I didn't play longer than 10 minutes for the named reasons which is a shame as it looks great. It looks visually and soundwise great, reminiscent of the Games from Jack Spinoza if anyone's familiar. Also my very own game "Anica" felt close. I hope the developer will pick up on the mentioned problems so we can enjoy this game which I unfortunately can't recommend yet!
If you have to describe a game, and you cannot find terms or similarities to help you with, sometime can be a really positive thing. Because it means originality. So, in this moment I really find complicated to described Marginal Act, it is a game so hermetic, strange and peculiar that without playing it could be difficult to understand. The plot is also obscure and surreal, intriguing but difficult to figure it out. Also, a superficial english translation will not help to understand it. But this will not affect the progress or the enjoyment of the game. There are also multiple endings. It can be described as an adventure game, where the main focus is to search random object around a big town to find a use for them. Worth to specify that the objects appears also big and oversized, so the main character will bring them around in a very uncomfortable way. The exploration is at the core of the game, a free and unchained exploration. There are mysterious hidden items without an apparent function and the main character can walk after the borders of the city toward the infinite. One of the most interesting feature is the use of the lights of the theater. The world of Marginal Act appears like a desolate landscape, till when you realize that the lights can reveal the building, bringing them to life. They exist only when a specific light is pointing at them, and from that point can be completely explored. The buildings are also divided in categories. The shops is where you trade for new items, the meathouses are full of traps to avoid while each storage is a complex puzzles. Each new place keeps the curiosity high and it hides many secrets or bizarre characters. Marginal Act is a very slow and hermetic game, probably not for everybody. Lot of times you will wander around the city, putting together bizarre items without finding any use for them. There are few hints, and the game usually is complex. However, this always add a sense of surprise and interest. "What this item can possibly do? Will I ever use it?". Many things are difficult to figure out and, till the community will not start to put together a guide, probably will never be solved. I challenge you to check the options menú and figure out what is happening. I hope it will have a bigger community in the future to cooperate to figure out all the hidden secrets of this game. The game has also bizarre and almost random scenes. At some point, a giant eye will start to follow you beneath ground, or a colossal mutant bigger than the city will kill you, to then disappear forever. Lot of these moments totally surprise me, making me think a genuine "WTF?". The zoom mechanic is also quiet interesting. Changing the level of zoom for more details or a bigger map will almost change your idea of the game. It can be difficult, slow and sometimes you will feel lost, but is such and original and interesting game that you can bypass these negative points and enjoy the experience (and it also come for a very cheap price).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08bZ9vEZpG0
So I've played this game for about 3 hours and I personally love it. It's visually wonderful with the dadaism style of art and the funky use of perspective. The art really fits in with the idea of a slowly collapsing society. I spent a good 5 minutes just appreciating the map and all the detail put in. I loved the look of the NPCs and all the textures, too. The sound design gave off a nice creepy vibe and I loved the wide variety of sound effects. The controls felt good and I'm very appreciative of the use of colliders on the obstacles. I was worried that because of the perspective, I would be hit by enemies/obstacles even if I wasn't really touching them but it was actually really easy and fun to maneuver through. The game is pretty solid when it comes to not having glitches/ places where you easily could get physically stuck which was nice. There are some problems with the game though. The player is also a bit slow and since this game heavily relies on going back and forth from place to place, I would've loved a run button of some sorts. I also found myself getting stuck a few times because the objectives aren't really clear. One example of this was when I was trying to get the pieces of meat. There is one locked behind a door and the lady near it says that she lost the key. Because of this, I spent a long time looking for a key which I wasn't able to find. It turned out that I needed to use the skull and bones on the door which if I had never looked at the walkthrough, I wouldn't have known. I think in the Russian version they have clearer symbols, but the English version was heavily lacking. I want to mention that the weird ways of progressing wasn't an problem rather the lack of direction that I didn't enjoy. There is a playthrough that helps, but I think that these issues could be easily fixed with a few minor tweaks and additions. Overall a good game for a good price!
2d bulmaca mı desem platform mu desem bilemedim garip bi şey işte, eğlenceli bulamadım
Game could be completed in 1 hour, but controls and low character movement speed says "No, you cant" , which is very bad, especialy when there is a lot of back-tracking.
I really wish i could recommend this game. The mechanic to place buildings in different spots to change their interior is unique, and the graphics and bad english add a special touch. The puzzles are also creative, and most of the time intuitive. However, two major downsides: It's not always clear where to bring what item, and lots of backtracking because you get lost in transporting items/moving buildings. If one could move buildings outside of the theatre, and there was some kind of quest log, it would be easily recommendable.
