March of the Living
Okay soo.. Text-Based Gameplay or Combat only? Really clear that this forces you get into fight zombies constantly instead of scavenging stuff. Hard Difficulty gives Headaches as soon as you dies asap with no ammo. Fun fact; u need em to beat the Game/Hordes even on easy Difficult, so this technically says their "Combat System" its poorly BROKEN asf. "Over +80k Words of quality writting" Sure, so they sells an interactive Zombie Comic/novel with combat system.. but why always appears the same events/sentences with the same words? Oh, i see! I need keep Marching/reaching to see more! Soo....... (? "Real-Time Combat" I wish they can fix or at least explain the dumb fact that the allies/teammates stops fighting when two of em targets same zombie while they keeps chasing your survivors.. same the stop ones do NOTHING for the next combat events, SOOOO......... (??? (Note that this is the Full/Actual version (No Early Access).. but there's still unfixed Objets/Visual bugs and Freezes/crashes that really stress/annoy us.. We know they wont fix this crap anymore. : / ) "160 Unique events" What the hell does even this means? Scavenge gameplay its so dumb as theres nothing to find from the forest, all the goods are in the City icons/places, after done searching City, there you go.. Same Events/Words at the same empty places/forest..... Also.. Need to buy Jane's Jorney DLC to get 100% Steam Achievements, nice one there Cashgrabers! $10(USD) for Basic & Monotonous/booring Gameplay? NO THANKS.
Data Size: 550MB
I would like to give this a thumbs up but it feels like every choice leads to death. I'm a guy who doesn't like wasting my time so when have to avoid a bunch of pointless encounters with Marauders and zombies to make it to the end just to lose at the last stage because ONE of my five characters died because I couldn't withstand 2 minutes of endless zombies I get pretty upset.
https://youtu.be/zl-gLtF4pys Plenty of strong design decisions are present in the game systems but a lack of connective elements makes for a disjointed overall experience that plays far less engaging than it should.
I want to love this game, and I think it could be pretty compelling after some balance tweaks to the weapons, and a lot more nuance to the encounters. More information when making choices. I'm not a hammer expert, but it really hurts my immersion when I miss hitting a slow, shambling zombie with a hammer. At night, with a 60% percent chance to hit, it's not crazy to miss an attack, 4, 5, 6 times, which really slows down the combat and makes it tough to enjoy. Going off what others have mentioned about this being like FTL; sometimes in that game you choose a bad option and you lose a party member, but the ship can still move on and you come across new crew-mates often enough that it's not really a big deal. Your shields may recharge 5% slower, but you can still win the game without a full crew. You lose a party member in this game and in the later stages of the game, the loss of DPS can sometimes make the encounters feel almost impossible, and running away is like always a terrible choice. The combat is super clunky in general, mirco really cumbersome, and I have trouble managing parties of 2-3 people against a full wave of zombies let alone with a party of 6. I think the game would benefit overall if the combat was made turn-based. Get rid of the un-fun, clunky micro and give me better control over the narrative and story rather than how well I can kite backwards for an extended period of time. Basically, I just want to mod this game and I'd probably have a really good time
Love it
It’s a fun roguelike, but it has a few annoying issues. Targeting feels inconsistent—sometimes I have to aim manually, sometimes survivors switch targets on their own, which gets frustrating once you have four or more survivors. Positioning is also annoying since I have to manually manage spacing to avoid back attacks, with no other way to handle it. Enemy variety is pretty limited, too, so things get repetitive.
It's alrigh but the same searching and random encounters gets old fast
FTL is way better but it's a fun game for a change of pace. Its a bit too range dependent and the difficulties are sadly unbalanced. (I lost on yet another game of hard because I had died of starvation, doing 60 minute searches of every grocery, drugstore and apartment net me a whopping 3 food then entire game. On easy your literally throwing away food because you get 7-16+ per search.) It's a bit weird how you have to get the right random item and hold it for the right random event that may never happen, but that's the same in FTL, you just have very limited space in this. All in all I had a decent time playing it on normal and easy but hard was just a lesson in masochism. There a number of bugs in the game. The worst being that it starts on the wrong monitor when you have a multi monitor setup, IE not on the primary monitor. There are a large number of grammar mistakes, missing words, and other errors (such as dead people talking in quest popups and other decision not showing up in the text) in the "Quality writing", otherwise I enjoyed the stories.
I would not pay more than $5. Its not a bad game. I had fun, played a couple of hours, died a few times but understood why each time. Each replay though feels the same other than getting a new companion here and there. Maybe i didn't give it enough time, but couldn't keep myself excited for this one. FTL in comparison just feels more exciting.
