So einfach. So gut. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
English: -----------------------------------------> Marble Land by Devious Technologies is a cool marble run game from 2017. We must, unsurprisingly, navigate a marble down a track to the exit. So simple. So good. To get our marble on the right path, we have to interact with all sorts of objects to eventually clear the way. Marble Land's interface is pretty minimalist, a simple menu that I mention here only because of the funny German translation. Delicious Menu. The graphics in the game itself, however, are gorgeous and very detailed. A gem from 2017. The game is operated with both controllers. Even though it is only designed for Vive controllers due to its age, it can be played very well with index controllers as well. We can move relatively slowly but freely around the marble run and enlarge or reduce or move the tracks. In the menu there is also the option to choose between sitting and standing, whereby the map is immediately displayed much larger in sitting mode. Also recommended in standing mode. Otherwise, we can interact with the required objects on the tracks via laser pointer, i.e. point at them and press triggers. A bit oldschool, just like the game itself. The tracks I've played so far weren't really difficult, but that the difficulty level is increasing is clear to see from the 45 available levels. The tracks are getting more complicated and new objects are blocking the paths that our ball is supposed to roll. In any case, it's a lot of fun to see how the marble rolls into the goal in the end. The physics of the marbles themselves occasionally look a bit strange, but are always predictable. Which is the key to solving the puzzles of the tracks. Marble Land offers some great marble runs in a relaxing environment, with what I think is very nice music and soundscape. Although it doesn't offer anything new, it is well implemented and graphically can keep up with current titles. 👀Crazy Murmur on my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
Horrible *HORRIBLE* controls. Two parts to that: 1) Badly designed as a control scheme in general (Teleportation requires a double tap of the left stick to enter, then you have to move the indicator to where you want and press the left stick a third time to actually teleport there. Moving without teleporting is extremely slow and requires you to hold the left stick pushed in while you "steer". Moving your camera with the control instead of headset requires you push and hold in the right stick and then you get a very very slowly moving freecam. Keeping in mind this is all for you to basically just move yourself around a table in a small room) 2) Very clearly designed for only the Index, and the control diagram is noisy and hard to parse, especially if you're then having to superimpose that in your mind as to how it'd work on another control. This wouldn't be worth calling out except that the controls are so non-intuitive to begin with) It's also the only game I get stutter on with SteamVR, I thought that was a thing long of the past. I was able to get it fixed by doing direct display mode, but it still stutters on the menu for some reason, I only realized I'd gotten it better in-level when I gave up on trying to fix it and figured I'd at least try the game out before a refund. That said, they did a nice job with the aesthetics, visual effects, and the actual marble puzzle gameplay. I bought the game on sale and think It will absolutely be worth what I paid for it. I just wish it would stop getting in the way of me playing it so much.
I got Marble Land on sale from Steam today (70% off till 6 August 2022, so aud$6.45 vs aud$22.99 on the Rift store). Plays and looks excellent on my Q2/rtx3090 with touch controllers, wireless with Air Link. It even has a proper Oculus runtime. I just needed to start up Air Link, go to the virtual desktop, and select the desktop shortcut. Works perfect and has lots of headroom and low latency. Fun little casual puzzle game and if you liked the board game Mousetrap when you were a kid, you'll love it! Cannot ask for better value imho. I also tried it with my Vive Pro/Index controllers and it also worked fine (even though the Index controllers show up as Vive wands, lol!). Even at 200% visuals I had no problem getting a smooth 90fps. To be honest it did not look any better than my Q2/rtx3090 with its res slider maxed out. This is a hidden gem imho. Cheers.
Great visual, controls, sound. Puzzles felt a little too easy, even with all the elements like multiple balls + teleport + slopes + switches + pitfalls.
Neat VR puzzle with satisfying gameplay and beautiful visuals. Just the right length for this type of game - around 3 hours. Guiding a marble orb through maze by redirecting interactable parts feels nice, even though it is done by just pointing and pressing trigger in VR rather than turning thing by hand. Watching the result of solving a puzzle is satisfying, almost like looking at elaborate Rube Goldberg machine in action. Puzzles themselves are ok: not too fancy or mind breaking, but not insultingly easy either. Difficulty curve is steep for first 2 chapters, but drops a bit in the final one. Works on Reverb G2
