As an artist who paints and draws and also teaches perspective this is a one of a kind opportunity to feel really dizzy and nearly vomit. Love it. Cant wait to get well and try again.
The game itself is okay. I would not have enjoyed it just for the game, because it's not very entertaining. The non-Euclidean space is the main point of this project, and it's interesting to experience. I play many different styles of games just fine, but I am only able to play this one ~10 minutes at a time, before my head starts to hurt, and I experience some nausea. You can probably train your brain to accept this geometry, but this may take some commitment. My visual / sensory system is actively rejecting the idea that corners may be anything other than exactly 90 degrees. If you are sensitive to weird motion sickness, I do not recommend playing this. This almost feels like playing a game with a very wide field of view. If you do want to challenge yourself, try to construct some kind of a mental model of the world's map in your mind. Even though you may be great with directions in the real world, this reality is just too different to easily fit into whatever humans use internally to be good with physical orientation.

Weird, smart, hilarious. Play it in short sessions so you do not puke from a geometry that is too complex for our small monkey brains.
Neat little collecathon solving non-Euclidean puzzles. If this had a level-editor, it would be interesting to see where fans could have taken the concept. Like when someone altered the value of Pi in Doom and how that effected geometry. Or explorable versions of M.C. Escher works.
Normally, I never get nausea playing video games. No abnormal camera angles, rapid motion, or anything VR has fazed me. That said, this game in VR left me being constantly unbalanced. Not because I was actually unbalanced, but because by some reflex my body would overcorrect itself THINKING it was unbalanced. Wild experience, highly recommend.
Ok so I was under the impression that this was a puzzle game. Like superliminal-style, but the game is mostly just talking to npcs (or really short if you don't do that). So i was a little disappointed. Also wdym there is a "Own a VR headset" achievement? I am going to recommend this, still... simply because this is really hecking cool. Could have used a developer who knew how videogames worked on the experience-level (a bit rude but I don't think that's entirely unwarranted), but the concept and tech are enough to carry this, at least for me.
i just like the game you dont have to get it tho
Pretty alright exploration game, with some fun NPC's and some decent puzzles/minigames. The main focus is how the world is very non-euclidean, and how you'll manage to do your tasks while the world wraps and bends around you in some crazy ways. However, I didn't find it too memorable when compared with other games that tried the same. And it feels a little nauseating sometimes (specially if you try the VR mode). But overall, I'd still say Hyperbolica is a nice short experience. It's not a mind-blowing game, but it did make my mind go in circles, in a good way.

Would love a game that revisits this tech with a greater focus on gameplay
