About
Explore a haunted forest and rescue the neighbor's cat!
Maple Blade is a short grid-based exploration game where you chop through the woods, fight off restless spirits, solve little puzzles, and help the townsfolk. Your sword can cut through nearly anything, including the tombstones of the dead... so be careful, or you'll end up getting 𝖈 𝖚 𝖗 𝖘 𝖊 𝖉 . . .
Cut your own path through the trees
Time only advances when you move, so even if combat gets hectic, you have plenty of time to chill and plan your next move
The autumn ambience and hand-drawn pixel art are cozy and relaxing :)
Featuring a meditative original soundtrack by Tim Myers (@timbyt_music)!
The forest layout changes nightly, so every playthrough is different
You can explore freely, chopping paths through the trees, hopping across lily pads, stopping (or starting) forest fires, chunking pumpkins, and hunting for treasure
Between levels, you can hang out at the cozy Visitor Center, chatting with wise locals and clueless tourists. There's gift shops where you can buy useful items, magical charms, keychains, palette filters, and hats for the cat! The hats don't do anything, they're just cute :)
There's a short, spooky story-- solve the haunted mysteries of the Sage Grounds, purify the spirits of the dead, and keep the tourists happy. It's all in a day's work for Maple Montressor!
This game was made as a passion project, without the use of generative AI. There's no ads, in-app purchases, loot boxes, or bloat
It's a pure little mix of chunky pixel art and modern game design-- a roguelite where you can cut your own paths through the "dungeon walls", complete missions in any order, use items to customize your risk-vs-reward, and relax in a serene autumn world, even in the midst of combat. I hope you dig it :)
Now where did that cat run off to...?

pros: chill and fun and cute, is not Maple Story, the kity meows and that is nice cons: I CAN'T SMOOCH THE FINAL BOSS WTF
For me, it's been a minute since a game has felt nostalgic from the first moment you play it. With plenty of charm throughout the story Maple Blade really has a way of enveloping you in its story. The combat is precise and satisfying, and your sense of adventure is maintained throughout. And not to mention a lovely soundtrack to compliment the game. It might take a second to get your bearings and figure out how to complete the objectives but it is well worth the effort and time.
Fantastic game! The mechanics are unique and the dialogue and story are witty and entertaining. The music sets a relaxing but groovy ambiance. Would be cool to be able to toggle or adjust the generative environment settings in challenge mode. Like turning water up to max or more trees or rocks etc etc
Maple Blade was a well-designed fun game. I am not an experienced gamer, and it didn't cause stress as I navigated the different areas. The cat was very cute, and I enjoyed the different characters and the challenging theme. Also, it was fun when the cat escaped, as that is so typical of cats!
It's been a pleasure to watch this game grow and develop over the years. It's got a great combination of chill vibes, good humor, and snappy movement. It's very satisfying to cleave through entire treelines once you've built up enough chaos. Maple Blade is the kind of game you can pick up after a long day's work and unwind with. Special shoutout to Tuna, the GOAT (He's a cat, but he's also my favorite).
