About
Map Of Materials is an exploration adventure.
Vincent finds himself alone on a mysterious island. To find his way home, he must uncover its secrets and face the dangers it holds.
Explore an open world from a third-person view: forests, caves, ruins, old tombs. Gather resources, craft useful equipment, and gradually improve your weapons and armor. Face the creatures of the island with bow and sword.
No quest markers, no arrows on the map. You find your own way. You set your own pace. There is always something new to discover, and the island's story only reveals itself to those who look closely.

Good stuff. Cheers!
A VERY BIG THUMBS UP from ME! At first you might have to find that cave, through the sandy beach from starting grounds. And keep playing, and you will be rewarded, with some small steps that turn into a greater Quest, to Find the Answer within the BIGGER Story. A Quick THANK YOU!! .. to Devs. Awesome game! Amazing game GEM, that appears to keep getting bigger and bigger. The more I play the game, and those moments of "Got It, Now I know what is next.. " .. is a lot of fun. Some deeper thinking, into the game, and you see that that simple straight forward rushing, is not the best idea. Do a little more searching, upgrade your character, plan your attacks, and strategy, and you will be rewarded. I'm loving the game. I thought I could blaze through it, but I see the smarter the approach, the more fun I have planning, the "what to do next". Wishing you guys the best success and the game shows a lot of heart and passion!

GOOOD GAME
Map Of Materials, developed and published by Mike Engler, is an open-ended indie action RPG that blends exploration, survival mechanics, and crafting into a single cohesive experience. Rather than guiding players through a tightly scripted storyline, the game drops them into a mysterious island setting and encourages discovery through experimentation. From the outset, it becomes clear that this is a title built around curiosity and persistence. The world does not revolve around constant tutorials or quest markers; instead, it invites players to observe their surroundings, gather resources, and gradually understand how its interconnected systems function. The gameplay loop revolves around exploration and material acquisition. As the title suggests, materials form the backbone of progression. Players scour forests, deserts, caves, and frozen regions in search of resources needed to craft equipment, enhance weapons, and survive increasingly hostile environments. Each biome introduces its own challenges, from environmental hazards to aggressive creatures, reinforcing the importance of preparation. The act of gathering is not merely a side activity—it is central to character growth. Tools, armor, and weapons evolve directly from what players harvest, making every expedition feel purposeful. Combat plays a significant role in shaping the pacing. Encounters with hostile creatures demand timing and resource management rather than button-mashing aggression. Melee weapons, ranged options, and magical abilities each offer different tactical advantages, allowing players to tailor their approach to personal preference. Enemies vary in strength and behavior depending on region, creating a natural difficulty curve as exploration pushes further into dangerous territory. Progression feels earned, as better gear crafted from rare materials noticeably improves survivability and combat efficiency. Survival systems deepen the experience by introducing environmental considerations. Certain areas require appropriate gear to withstand temperature extremes or environmental effects. This encourages thoughtful planning before venturing into unknown regions. Crafting becomes more than a convenience—it becomes a necessity. Establishing a rhythm between exploration, combat, and crafting creates a satisfying gameplay cycle where risk and reward are closely linked. Venturing into a hazardous biome may yield rare materials, but only if players prepare adequately and adapt to its conditions. Visually, Map Of Materials adopts a stylized yet functional aesthetic. The environments are varied and colorful, emphasizing readability and atmosphere over high-end graphical fidelity. Forests feel distinct from desert plains, and underground caverns introduce darker, more claustrophobic spaces. While the production values reflect its indie scope, there is a clear sense of cohesion in world design. The island feels handcrafted rather than procedurally generic, with points of interest that reward thorough exploration. One of the defining characteristics of the game is its minimal handholding. Objectives are often implied rather than explicitly stated, and players are expected to piece together mechanics organically. This design choice enhances immersion for those who enjoy discovery-driven gameplay but may frustrate players accustomed to clear quest logs and constant direction. However, for fans of sandbox-style progression, this approach adds a sense of authenticity to the adventure. Learning through experimentation makes each breakthrough feel personal and meaningful. Despite its ambition, the game occasionally reveals its independent development roots. Certain systems can feel rough around the edges, and balancing may fluctuate depending on playstyle. Interface elements and feedback loops may not always be as polished as those found in larger-budget RPGs. Yet these imperfections are often overshadowed by the sincerity of its design philosophy. The game’s focus on material-based progression, environmental storytelling, and player-driven exploration creates a strong foundation that resonates with those seeking an open-ended adventure. Ultimately, Map Of Materials stands as a testament to the appeal of exploration-centered RPG design. It offers a world that rewards patience, curiosity, and strategic preparation. While it may not provide cinematic storytelling or expansive quest chains, it succeeds in delivering a layered survival adventure built on crafting, combat, and environmental discovery. For players who appreciate forging their own path and gradually mastering interconnected systems, it provides a challenging and engaging journey shaped by the materials they gather and the choices they make. Solid old school RPG in the spirit of the old Gothic/Risen series
