About

In the kingdom of Mystralia, it takes more brains than brawn to succeed.
You will face down giant, powerful creatures and navigate treacherous terrain. You will encounter puzzles that confound even the wisest of the old sages. And you must overcome obstacles put in place by people who do not want you to succeed.

Your path will not be easy.
In Mages of Mystralia, you play as Zia, a young girl who discovers that she has been born with an innate sense of magic. Unfortunately, magic has been banned, so she strikes off to train on her own to gain some control over her powers. On her journey, she meets other exiled mages and, discovers runes with magical properties and realizes that she can combine these runes in millions of different ways to come up with completely new spells.
The story was written by bestselling author Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms fantasy world for Dungeons and Dragons, which served as the basis for games like Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights, as well as about 170 fantasy books.

This game is one of the most enjoyable I've played in years. The puzzles give me huge Zelda vibes and they really do just let you go crazy with the ability to manipulate and shape your own spells. Top it all off with the fact the art style and visuals are pretty damn adorable. If someone was on the fence about purchasing it, I would 100% recommend this game.
Mid to bad game. Too boring and slow. Spell creation is not that great. Puzzles are not hard, just annoying. Get it on a sale if it seems interesting, but you won't miss anything by skipping this one.
Где TUNIC и Death's Door учились там Mages of Mystralia преподавала.
Lovely game, the spellcrafting system and the world complement each other very well
Mages of Mystralia, developed and published by Borealys Games, is a vibrant action-adventure that distinguishes itself through an inventive spellcrafting system layered over a classic high-fantasy framework. You step into the role of Zia, a young girl who discovers she possesses magical abilities in a kingdom where magic has been outlawed. Forced into exile after losing control of her powers, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, mentorship, and resistance against forces that threaten both her world and her identity. The narrative follows familiar fantasy beats—ancient magic, lost knowledge, looming darkness—but grounds them in Zia’s personal growth and her evolving understanding of what it means to wield forbidden power responsibly. The defining feature of Mages of Mystralia is its modular spellcrafting system, which elevates it beyond a standard action-adventure. Instead of handing players a fixed list of spells, the game provides a library of runes that can be combined to alter how magic behaves. Core runes determine the base spell type, while modifier runes adjust elements such as trajectory, timing, area of effect, and conditional triggers. The result is a sandbox-like magical toolkit where experimentation is not only encouraged but required. Players might begin with a simple projectile spell, only to transform it into a bouncing, splitting, or delayed-effect attack capable of interacting with both enemies and environmental puzzles in creative ways. This system fosters a sense of ownership over your magical arsenal, as solutions often depend on how imaginatively you assemble your runes. Combat is built around this flexibility. Enemies vary from elemental creatures to larger, pattern-driven bosses that demand adaptation rather than brute force. Because spells can be tailored to personal playstyle, encounters can unfold differently depending on your chosen configurations. Some players may focus on rapid, direct damage, while others might experiment with crowd control or delayed detonations. This versatility prevents battles from becoming overly repetitive, though the underlying combat mechanics remain relatively straightforward. Dodging, positioning, and timing still matter, but the thrill comes from discovering how a newly crafted spell can shift the dynamic of a fight. Exploration and puzzle design integrate seamlessly with the spellcrafting mechanics. Environmental obstacles frequently require manipulating elements such as fire, ice, or force in inventive ways. Instead of encountering static locks and keys, players are encouraged to think like problem solvers, adjusting rune combinations until a spell interacts with the environment in the desired way. This design philosophy ensures that puzzles feel like organic extensions of the magic system rather than separate minigames. Hidden areas, optional challenges, and collectible upgrades further reward curiosity, making exploration feel purposeful rather than merely decorative. Visually, the game adopts a bright, stylized aesthetic reminiscent of storybook fantasy worlds. The color palette leans toward vivid greens, blues, and warm tones that give Mystralia a welcoming yet magical atmosphere. Character designs are expressive and slightly exaggerated, contributing to a tone that balances whimsy with seriousness. While the graphical fidelity may not compete with larger-budget titles, the cohesive art direction ensures the world feels alive and distinct. Complementing this is a fully orchestrated soundtrack that enhances emotional beats and heightens the sense of adventure, lending cinematic weight to both exploration and confrontation. Narratively, the pacing is steady and focused. Zia’s arc revolves around mentorship, responsibility, and the tension between suppression and self-acceptance. Supporting characters add texture to the world, though the story occasionally leans more on archetype than deep complexity. The lore of Mystralia hints at a broader magical history, yet the game’s relatively compact scope keeps the narrative contained. This brevity works in its favor by avoiding unnecessary filler, though some players may wish for a deeper dive into the world’s mythology. Ultimately, Mages of Mystralia succeeds because of its commitment to player-driven creativity. While its structure follows familiar action-adventure conventions, the spellcrafting system transforms the experience into something more personal and experimental. It rewards curiosity, encourages adaptation, and allows players to define their own magical identity within a vibrant fantasy setting. Though not without minor limitations in combat depth and narrative complexity, it stands out as a thoughtfully designed adventure that values imagination as much as execution, offering a satisfying journey for those who enjoy shaping their own tools in a world of colorful magic. i want to play this game but it wont let me i got my xbox controler to work for about and hour then it stop connecting to the game but works fine in every other game
Unlovable main character, poor history line, but overall an enjoyable game due to the spell mechanics.
👍👍👍
Interesting game machanics, and cool story. Not the game of the year, but a good one!
